Chapter Two

"Nikolai Mezzeselma, nice to meet you." He said, offering me a small smirk. It felt as if the world around me had come to a stop and for a moment I'd forgotten about my boyfriend's betrayal. Nikolai had changed since the last time I saw him.

Nikolai Mezzeselma now had this manly charm I'd never seen before. His jet black hair fell across his forehead as his dark eyes remained fixated on me. The moment didn't last long though before we started hearing whispers which reminded us that we were in public. I pulled away from his grip and sat back down on my chair and he did the same.

"Lycan King, you didn't inform us that you'd be coming?" The Alpha said as he scurried over to our seat. Nikolai shrugged as he picked up a cup of wine from the waiter passing by.

"As Lycan King I don't think I need to inform you of everything I do, Alpha Richard," Nikolai answered, sipping his wine. Alpha Richard chuckled lightly.

"I don't mean it that way. I mean I could've prepared better. Look at this ugly decoration, I would've put in more effort had I known you'd be coming," Alpha Richard replied.

Nikolai looked around the hall and nodded his head. "I personally think the decoration looks wonderful. Who did it? I'd love to hire them," Nikolai answered.

"You're getting married, Lycan King? To whom?" Ruth asked, a mixture of surprise and awe on her face.

"This beautiful lady beside me," he said, turning to look at me.

"Dear, is that true?" My father, Beta Matthews, asked. Nikolai turned to look at me, his black eyes held a hidden warning, compelling me to say the word I did next.

"Yes," I Blurted without a second thought. Everyone in the room gasped and the microphone Daniel had been holding fell to the ground making a loud noise. In the midst of all the shock, Nikolai smirked and kept sipping his wine.

"How come? When did this happen?" Someone from the crowd whispered. I turned to look at Ruth and Daniel and the both of them were fuming.

"Let's get back to the ceremony, shall we? I don't want to steal the spotlight away from the couple," Nikolai teased. Alpha Richard recovered from his shock looking as pale as a ghost. Everybody went back to their respective seats, leaving Nikolai and I alone.

"What was that about? And why did I say yes?" I asked, turning to look at him. Nikolai kept his eyes on the stage as a group of Omegas performed.

"Shh, princess, keep your eyes on the stage," Nikolai said, staring straight ahead. I grit my teeth as I faced the stage. Now I remember the reason why I hate him.

"Alright, Nikolai, what's all this about?" I asked, barging into his hotel room. The event had ended about an hour ago. Nikolai was seated on his couch, hunched over some papers scattered on his desk.

"Ever heard of knocking?" He asked, bitterly. I rolled my eyes as I slammed his door shut and leaned against it. "How did you even get past my security?" He asked, frowning.

"Well seeing as news spreads so quickly here and you forced me into saying I'm your wife-to-be, it wasn't really hard convincing your guards," I answered, picking at my nails. Nikolai let out a low curse then stood up. I looked up at him with a raised brow.

"Sarah DeVille, I haven't seen you in a year. Don't you think we should catch up?" He asked, coming to stand right in front of me. I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

"I'm not here to catch up, Nikolai. I'm here for answers. Either you give them to me or I go out there and tell everyone the truth," I threatened.

"If you do that then you'll risk going back to your old life. Tell me that ever since I announced our marriage you haven't noticed differences in how you're being treated," he said, stepping closer.

"I don't care. You're only doing this to intimidate me. Why me?" I asked him.

"Look, princess, I don't know what goes on in that crazy head of yours but what I do know is that we can both be of help to each other," Nikolai said, running a hand across my cheek.

"How?" I breathed.

"Marry me." He blurted.

"I already know you want me to marry you, Nikolai. My question is how can you be of help to me? What do you think I want?" I asked him. Nikolai smirked as he leaned in closer. Placing his mouth just next to my ear, he muttered,

"Revenge."

I froze. Did he know? "What do you mean?" I asked him, covering my shock. Nikolai chuckled as he turned around walking away.

"You want revenge on your father, on your sister and on your so-called boyfriend," he said bitterly. I sighed. At least he didn't know the whole truth.

"So you're saying if I marry you, I'll be able to have my revenge. Then what's in it for you? Why do you suddenly need to get married?" I asked him, tilting my head.

"I'm getting old, Princess. I need an heir. Plus the Elders have been pressuring me to get married," Nikolai replied.

"So you want my body in exchange for providing me with my revenge?" I asked. Nikolai nodded. "I'll think about it," I answered as I turned to leave.

"I give you till tomorrow," he shouted as I slammed the door closed. The guards in the hallway straightened and bowed at me. I rolled my eyes as I kept on walking away. I already knew my answer but there was still joy in making him wait.

I entered my room and immediately sat down on the floor. Today was surely a bad day to wear heels. I pulled off the heels and rested my back against the wall. I closed my eyes as I tried to get myself together.

"So when were you going to tell me about your affair? And how long has this been going on?" A familiar voice asked. My heart jumped into my throat as my eyes snapped open and right in front of me was Daniel. The room was dark so I quickly got to my feet and turned on the lights.

"What are you doing here? How did you get in?" I asked. Daniel laughed as he went to sit on my bed. His eyes were red and he had a bottle of alcohol in his hands.

"To think that I thought I was playing you when in reality you were the one playing me. You just used me to hide him," he said, taking a swig of his alcohol. I looked at him as a mix of emotions coursed through me.

"I wasn't playing you. You played me. I've been honest throughout the three years we spent together but look what you've done!" I yelled at him. Daniel stood up with the speed of light and wrapped a hand around my neck.

"Are you telling me you just met him today and decided to marry him? Fuck it, Sarah, I'm not stupid! My father wouldn't let me marry you so I decided to marry your sister while you're my mistress!" He shouted as the veins in his neck started showing.

"That's disgusting. You're lying, Daniel. You and I both know it," I told him as I tried to get away from him. Daniel bent his head and started kissing me while his hand was still around my neck. I struggled to get away from him then finally kicked his Father's day.

"Ah, fuck. You'll regret that," Daniel yelled as he crouched down and held his member. I grabbed the bottle and smashed it on his head, rendering him unconscious.

"I don't think so," I said as I dragged him out of my room. Daniel was quite heavy so it took me a while to get him out. After I'd left him outside my door, I went back to my room and plopped down on my bed. I didn't know when the tears started falling. They just streamed down my eyes soaking my pillow. I felt a mix of heartbreak, disgust and rage. I picked up my phone from beside me and scrolled through my contacts. I finally landed on the contact I was searching for and I pressed call. Within four rings, the person on the other end had already picked up.

"It's a deal."
