After saying my farewells to Ava and Josie, I got into the car with Nikolai. I sat at the window side of the car, careful not to get too close to him. He was still in his suit(without the blazer) and his sleeves were rolled up. I could feel the anger rolling off him and how hard he was trying to keep his cool. Knowing Nikolai, we'd continue this game until he reached tipping point and then everyone would suffer for it so I decided to start a conversation.

"Beautiful day, isn't it?" I asked or so I thought. Nikolai's head snapped in my direction with such speed that I feared he'd broken his neck.

"Beautiful day?" He snarled. My chest tightened knowing what was coming next. "No, Sarah. It is not a beautiful day. A beautiful day would be you safely at home and me at work but that's not what today was, was it? I told you to stay at home but you didn't listen. What if something had happened to you?"

"But nothing happened. You should've waited until something did. At least then I'd have had
