Chapter Five

“Are we set? Packed and ready to go?" Nikolai asked as he shut the boot.

"We're all set,” I replied to him, putting my hands together. Nikolai had come back about thirty minutes ago. The plan was to get to the airport in about twenty minutes then we begin the flight to New York.

“Great," he said, entering his car. Amelia and I got in too as we drove off. I hadn't checked my phone for some time now so I pulled it out of my pocket and was shocked at the amount of calls and messages I had. Most of them were from Daniel.

Daniel: Sarah, come back!

Daniel: You know you haven't formally left the pack. You could be punished for this.

Daniel: You took that maid too? She didn't leave the pack either!

Daniel: You and that man are breaking all the rules!

“Hey, Nikolai, you know Amelia and I haven't formally left the pack, right?" I asked him. Nikolai hummed as he skillfully switched gears.

“That's being sorted out. Besides, I'm the Lycan King. All the power is in my hands," Nikolai said, grinning as he flexed his hands. I rolled my eyes at him.

“What about the elders?" I asked him. “Don't they have a day? You're breaking an age old rule," I warned him.

“Something with your werewolves and thinking we Lycans are as insignificant as you. I can get away with it. Don't worry about it, Princess,” he said, waving me off. I shrugged then went back to scrolling through the millions of messages Daniel had left me. I scoffed when I saw the last message.

Daniel: don't you know I love you, Sarah.

I ignored the message and quickly blocked his number before he'd get any other ideas. Within minutes, we were already at the airport. The airport officials led us quickly to a secluded spot in the airport. There was a whole plane with gold around it waiting for us and my jaw slacked. Nikolai wasn't this loaded, right? It can't be.

“Welcome to my private airplane, Princess," he said, smirking. I dropped my bags on the floor as I rushed into the plane. Prior to this, I'd never been in a plane much less one this expensive. The inside was even more beautiful than the outside.

The floor was decorated with red carpeting and the seats looked like something for Royals. Not that Nikolai wasn't a Royal himself but still.

"Wow,” Amelia breathed beside me. "This man is loaded,” she continued.

"I know right,” I agreed with her. We admired the plane for a while until Nikolai came in.

“You can admire later. We're about to take off," he said. The pilot went into his cabin while Nikolai went to sit down somewhere else. Amelia chose a seat at the back and I followed her. Just as I was about to sit down, Nikolai looked back and frowned.

“Sarah," he called. “You sit beside me."

I was undecided for a moment but Amelia nudged me to go and I did. I sat beside Nikolai and faced him, watching him work.

“Do you ever do anything that's not work? Because every time I've seen you you always have papers in your hands," I pointed out. The corner of Nikolai's mouth lifted as he signed a paper then glanced at me.

“Well, there was yesterday's breakfast with your family. Then there was earlier this morning when I saved you from death. Oh and before I forget, the event-"

“Okay okay, I get it," I muttered, rolling my eyes. Nikolai frowned as he grabbed my chin.

“Stop that. I really don't want to gouge your eyes out,” Nikolai said, looking me straight in the eyes. I gulped as his eyes held an intensity I'd never seen before.

“Why? It's a reflex action," I told him. Nikolai grimaced and brought his face closer.

“Well we'll need to fix that then, Princess," he whispered. Someone cleared their throat from beside us and I immediately pushed Nikolai away.

“There are snacks and refreshments available if the Lycan King or his Luna would want,” the hostess said, bowing then going on her way.

"In the books, the hostesses usually ignore the Male lead's woman and try to get him. Seems like you got yourself good hostesses,” I told him, nodding my head slowly. Nikolai chuckled then looked at me.

"Whoever told you you were my woman?” Nikolai asked, raising a brow. I put my elbow on the arm rest and stared at him.

“The same person who proposed to me and made me his wife,” I said, putting my finger out for him. He'd already given me a ring and I didn't know how he knew my size. It was a huge diamond ring and I heard there were only 5 in existence. How lucky am I to be one of the five holders?

“Touché, Sarah. Touché. Besides, books don't translate to real life. Wake up from your delusions,” Nikolai said, turning back to his papers. I felt the urge to roll my eyes and I glanced at him to see if he was looking at me but he was deeply focused on his work. I rolled my eyes and immediately his head snapped up.

"What did I say about rolling your eyes?” He asked. I opened and closed my mouth as I wondered how he knew. “I'll decide on what to do with you when we get home," he said.

“Home," I repeated. Home was a place I'd never been to in a year. Unfortunately for me, my home left me. Let's see the home Nikolai talked about.

I rested my back against the chair and closed my eyes to see if I could sleep. Nikolai tapped me on my knees and I hummed.

“Get up and meet one of the hostesses to direct you to the room,” he said. My eyes snapped open. Room? PLANES COULD HAVE ROOMS?

"Oh my fucking Goddess,” I yelled as I jumped up. A hostess rushed to us worriedly. "Take me to the room,’’ I told her, clearing my throat. Nikolai looked like he was holding back a laugh and as I passed him I stepped on his feet lightly. Payback for teasing me.

The hostess took me to the room and Goddess, now I knew what heaven felt like. We were in the skies, one. Two, this room was comfortable! I spread myself across the bed and sighed.

“Why have I never enjoyed this?” I muttered as I fell into a deep sleep. But deep down, I knew the answer.
