Rejection

ALLISON POV

What could be worse than sneaking around with an enemy of your sibling behind his back and knowing you could get punished for it?

I doubted there was anything much worse than that.

I shivered, knowing where I'd end up if I were caught. The cold, dark, nightmarish dungeon was situated underneath the vast Blue moon pack palace.

The dungeon I had heard a lot of horrifying stories about. I didn't want to be part of those who experienced it. Hence, the reason I was always careful when coming to Chase's.

I jumped out of my beat-up truck after packing at a safe distance. Glancing around, I rounded the corner I often took to Chase's pack house.

Chase and I had been sneaking around for some weeks now.

We met at a friend's party and hit it off immediately. I was attracted to him, and I believed he was attracted to me as well.

But then, I didn't know why he hadn't taken steps to mark me and make me his.

It was as if he only enjoyed messing around with me and didn't want all I wanted. Moreover, he didn't look like someone a woman could pin down because he was overly attractive, tall, broody, sexy, and freaking mysterious.

I guess it was his mysterious side that drew me to him.

Chase was the Alpha of Moon Stone pack, and the pack house was farther away from ours. Although I didn't mind. I was even happy as it made it better to sneak around with him.

If we had been closer to each other, Sinclair would have found out, and I'd end up getting punished.

Chase and Sinclair had been enemies, for only the goddess knows when. I had asked Chase about it, and he only told me they had been best friends for a long time until life happened. He didn't say much about what happened between them and why they weren't on speaking terms. Sinclair didn't say much either, and he dismissed me just like Chase had.

Still, that didn't make me stop seeing him. He was my brother's enemy, and he could be my potential mate seeing as my wolf, Jacy, was always excited to see him.

I couldn't do away with Chase just because of their fallout. So, I believed with time, they'd come back together again.

However, my reason for coming to his pack house, even though I vowed the last time I was here never to revisit him, was because of Artemisia.

I wanted answers and needed to know why he did what he did, but knowing Chase, it would be hard getting him to tell me.

"I'd like to speak with you inside," I said through gritted teeth as soon as I reached him. I flashed a plastic smile to the blonde by his side and glared as she touched his shoulder.

I knew she was his assistant and only talking about issues in the pack, but I couldn't help but feel the jealousy clawing at my heart.

I wanted to yank her away from his side and flung her across the lawn, dislocating her bones. Then went further to scratch her pretty face with my manicured fingers.

Shit, I had never been this possessive. It was weird; I had this strange feeling about him.

But then, I couldn't help who my heart wanted.

"I want you inside," I repeated as he didn't acknowledge the first one.

Despite how firm it sounded, my voice trembled.

Not only my voice, my body as well. I was beyond furious with him.

"What for?" He asked me. His beautiful blue eyes stared me up and down.

Swiftly, I yanked him off the chair and dragged him toward his room.

Chase didn't object, and I knew if he wanted to, I wouldn't be able to move him from where he sat.

Shutting the door, I glared at him as he stared at me with a raised eyebrow.

"What did you do to Artemisia? Bástárd, what did you do with her?!" I screamed at him, shoving him.

For a while, he stared at me as if confused about what I was talking about. Then his eyes twinkled, and he chuckled. "Oh, so you heard?"

"Of course, the rumour is everywhere, Chase, and nothing is hidden in Merene!"

"Stop yelling at me!" Chase nudged me into the wall and slapped his hands above my head. "I am way above you. I am an Alpha, and no werewolf below me should speak in that manner to me."

I cringed, gazing up at him. Such an arrogant asshole!

Grasping my hand, he tugged me into him, and his free hand groped my butt.

"Let go of me!" I attempted to wriggle out of his grasp, but it was no use as he held on tighter.

Thinking I had trusted him not to do such things, I believed all men were the same.

"I am fúcking different from the douches you've been with," Chase growled, tightening his grip on my wrist. "Do not ever compare me with anyone."

His once crystal blue eyes were now a golden colour. I must have hit a nerve with the comparison. And I didn't mind doing it again. I wanted him to feel as much hurt as I was feeling.

"I thought you were not interested and fled the last time. You vowed never to see me..."

"I'll never be interested in you, jerk. Feeling the mate bond or not, I don't want a womanising man as a mate."

Chase involving himself with a lot of women was the reason I told him I wouldn't see him anymore, and he hadn't even made me feel better about it.

He hadn't called me back and had let me walk out on him.

Shit, I was freaking jealous. Perhaps, I shouldn't be, seeing as he had never laid a claim on me as his, but I couldn't help it.

He made me feel like a common whóre, and it was even more annoying that I was only attracted to him and no one else.

I gasped as his hand gripped the thin spaghetti strap of the blouse I donned, and he yanked it down, exposing my breasts.

"Beautiful." He rasped, leaning into me. "I want you, Allison Stone. And every inch of your body, will I get. I won't be sorry for what is about to happen because I warned you."

With that, Chase shoved me to the wall and closed his mouth on mine.

I moaned, gripping the flannel shirt he donned.

For a few seconds, I let him kiss me until I regained my sanity. I shoved him back and glared at him.

"I reject you, Chase, whatever your last name is, as my mate..."

"We were never mated!" Chase growled, cutting me off.

He gripped my chin and stared into my eyes, "What do you want from me, Allison? My body has always been available to you. I thought that'd satisfy you."

"I'd prefer we stopped seeing each other. I'll find someone better and less of a skirt chaser!" I said all in a breath and shook my head to release his grip on my chin.

I stormed out of the room without waiting for his response. However, I wasn't fast enough, and with super hearing, I heard his voice loud and clear.

"You are already ruined, darling. Besides, no man will make you feel what I do, and in no time, you'll come running back to me!"

The nerves of him!

He must have thought my world revolved around his fúcking arrogant ass. But I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of having the last word.

He assumed I'd come back to him just like I did today. I was going to prove him wrong!

I'd get a mate to prove he didn't have a hold on me as he assumed and I was attractive enough to have whoever I wanted.
