Twenty-five

CHASE POV

My lungs burned, but it wasn't the only part of my body searing. My skin and every inch I touched felt like a fiery furnace, overheated.

I pressed my hand to my side, which had been aching for a while. When I raised my shirt, I saw nothing but unusual purple patches.

Lowering my shirt again, I surveyed the large, empty room surrounded by windows. A loud noise shattered my thoughts, making me wince. I stepped toward the window as it subsided.

My eyes widened at my surroundings.

"The ocean?" I exclaimed, disbelief flooding me. There was no way I could have been transported here. One minute, I was in the bathtub, writhing in pain with Allison in front of me. The next, I was in a field, then the wind came, and suddenly, I was in the middle of the ocean.

"It's what your mind makes it seem," a voice said, and I turned to see who had spoken.
