CHAPTER 14

Hazel’s POV

I woke up feeling a bit better than yesterday. My legs didn’t hurt as bad. My stomach didn’t feel like it was twisting and turning all the time. My heart wasn’t racing as fast as it did yesterday.

I was feeling better and I was going to get out of there. I had to leave before they broke me completely.

I threw the blanket off my body and stood up carefully. It felt weird to be on my feet after I spent days lying in cells. I took a deep breath as I stood up straighter and looked around the room.

I had to find a way out of here.

I assumed that it would be impossible for me to just walk out of the packhouse. Someone would stop me. Someone would ask where I was going. Someone would call them and tell them that I tried to leave. I couldn’t let that happen. Hopefully, I would already be out of their territory by the time they figured I left.

Maybe I could use a window.

I approached the nearest window and my hopes were crushed immediately. We were so high up that I wouldn’t surviv
