Chapter 25

The village Chief of Lausanne looks gravely at Everly and Claire as he explains the events befallen to the land in the past decade. Everly can only watch him in awed silence as both she and Claire witness the man’s tale.

“Ten years ago, Obarrow Land separated into two villages,” the Chief says, looking overwhelmed by the mere conversation. “My village, which is the one you’re in now and the village where my brother is chief.”

Everly feels Claire tense up next to her. They don’t know any of these people and now there were more of them nearby. However thankful she was for them saving their lives, Everly still worried they might do something that damages them both. Maybe they had intentions to use them along the way.
