 Chapter Four

•KIANA•

"Huh Julie... What's the occasion? Isn't this a little too much for someone that's going to be locked up in a room all day?" I asked with a puzzled look on my face.

"No, it's not too much. And you're not going to stay locked up in this room. You're going to have brunch with The Boss' family." She said and I froze.

Say what?!

"What did you say?" I quizzed, like I didn't hear her the first time she said it.

"You're going to have brunch with The Boss' family." She repeated calmly.

"Why? And who is this "Boss" that you've been talking about?" I questioned, emphasizing on the boss.

"You're having brunch with them because they want to meet you and also because the Boss said so. And the Boss I've been talking about is Mr. Aiden Griffin." She responded patiently.

Who the heck is Mr. Aiden Griffin?! I've never heard of that name in the twenty years that I've spent on Earth.

"Uhm... Okay." I sighed.

"Is it mandatory for me to go for brunch? Can my food be brought to me?" I asked, hoping that I could skip meeting with "The Boss' Family".

"Unfortunately, no. You have to go for brunch and get to meet the Family." She uttered and a defeated sigh left my mouth.

"Fine... Then we better go now and face the Family. I'm starving anyway." I said and stood up from the vanity chair.

"Lead the way." I told Julie after I had moved away from the dressing area. I walked behind her as she walked towards the door, she opened it and stepped out and I followed behind her. The first thing I saw after I stepped out were two men in black. They were standing on either side of the door and I figured out that they were guards situated there to stop me from escaping. I bet it wouldn't be possible to escape if I'm locked in though. Extra security, nice one.

Julie walked ahead of me while I fell into step behind her. I kept looking around, gawking at almost everything I saw because they all looked expensive and they were all tasteful. I didn't see any picture frame though. I had hoped that I could see one so that I could have an idea of what "The Boss" looked like. But I saw none. There were guards situated in almost every corner too. The security sure is tight here. I wouldn't be able to escape if I tried.

We finally arrived at the dinning room and three people were already seated. The room had a long dining table with eight chairs surrounding it. I could see series of food on the table and my stomach growled at the sight. I haven't eaten for over a day now and it was as if the food were calling me.

"Sir Griffin, she's here." Julie announced with a bow and every eyes snapped towards my direction. I squirmed under their scrutinizing gazes. It felt like the three of them were looking deep into my soul. The three people around the table were a man, a woman and a lady that looked to be in her twenties. The man and woman were obviously a couple.

"Hi!" I waved at them shyly, unsure of what to do in the situation I found myself in.

"Hey! You must be Kiana." The lady came over and engulfed me in a tight hug and I tentatively hugged her back. They knew my name already. How cool.

"Come have a sit." She said and practically dragged me to the chair beside the one she had been sitting on.

"Good morning ma and sir." I greeted the older couple and they smiled at me.

"Good morning, Kiana." They responded to my greeting simultaneously.

"How was your night? Did you sleep well?" She asked.

'I didn't have any idea of how my night went. I was drugged.' I thought but I didn't tell her that.

"My night was fine, ma. Thank you." I smiled briefly.

My attention was on the different types of food on front of me and I was salivating already. I'm pretty sure I looked weird but I didn't care at the moment, all I wanted to do was to fill my stomach.

"Let's eat!" The man announced. He must have seen how I was staring at the food dreamily. I didn't hesitate to dig in.

"Ohhh, slow down, Kiana, or you're gonna choke." The woman said I turned red in embarrassment. I was so hungry that I was rushing myself.

"Thank you, ma'am." I said and slowed down.

"It's fine, you're probably starving." She smiled. Oh, she doesn't know the half of it. This is the first food I will be eating in over twenty four hours.

"So... I figured out that you don't know our names and we're going to introduce ourselves to you." The older woman uttered and I bobbed my head.

"That would be nice. I didn't know how I was going to ask for your names." I blushed.

"Okay... My name is Emma, this is my husband Gabriel and the overly excited girl beside you is Cassie, our daughter." She said and I bobbed my head.

"It's nice to meet you guys." I flashed a small smile at them.

"It is great to meet you. You don't know how happy I am to see you." Emma grinned and I stared in perplexion.

Why was she so happy to see me? It's not like I'm some special guest that they would be happy to meet. I'm just a prisoner, suffering for a debt her father couldn't pay. I didn't even know the purpose of the breakfast I'm having with The Boss' Family. Is he trying to make me feel less of a prisoner? I don't even know anything anymore.

"Kiana, tell us about yourself please. We'll like to know more about you." Cassie, who was sitting beside me spoke up.

Interested in a prisoner? I see.

"Well... There's nothing much to know about me. My name is Kiana Smith, I'm 20 years old and I graduated from highschool two years ago, I haven't been able to go to college because of money. And yeah, I love writing, it's my favorite thing to do."

"Interesting... You sound like there's not much going on in your life. Doesn't it get boring?" Emma said and asked, peering at me.

"Yeah... I don't have friends. I stay indoors most of the time. The only time I go out of the house is whenever I go to my part-time job or when I am sent on errands. Also, it gets pretty boring but I've gotten used to being alone" I replied with a shrug.

"Okay..." She trailed off like she didn't know what she was going to say anymore and I understood her.

While eating, we kept making small talks in-between and I got to know more about them too. They were very nice people and Cassie was a bundle of joy. If they were like this, I wonder how their son, "The Boss" would be.
