Chapter six

Liam's pov

After what happened at the hotel,  Asher has refused to speak to me. She only faked a smile when our parents came to take us to the airport to board a flight taking us to Germany for our honeymoon.

After arriving in Germany, I made several attempts to talk to Asher, but she ignored me every time I did. I knew what I did hurt her but it was never intentional to do so. I wanted to make things right with her, but she kept ignoring me and wasn't ready to hear me out.

"Babe," I called softly. "This is the limousine that would be taking us to our hotel". I said as I already confirmed  the plate number given to me and was sure that it was for us but my wife remained silent, her expression unreadable. I could feel some tension between us as we sat close to each other inside the vehicle. The air was so heavy with a lot of unresolved feelings. As the limousine drove away from the airport, I wondered what would be  going through her mind.

In less than one hour we got to the hotel. As we arrived at the hotel, I couldn't help but notice the luxurious atmosphere. We were greeted by hotel staff who assisted us with our bags, and we were ushered into our room. The room was breathtakingly beautiful, but I couldn't fully appreciate it. My wife hasn't said anything to me yet.

"Asher, please," I begged, "what happened between me and Lucy was not intentional. I tried to stop her, but I don't know what happened. I can't explain it." I knelt down and held her ankles, desperate for her to understand. Tears began to flow down her cheek, and I felt my heart shattered. I knew I had hurt her deeply, and I wished more than anything that I could take it back. But I couldn't change the past, and I could only hope that she would believe me.

"Oh really," She finally said. "If truly you want to make this marriage work, why did you inform her of the hotel we were lodged in?" She said with tears flowing freely down her cheeks.

"I never do that, I never call her or tell her anything, I didn't even have her contact, I don't know how she knows" I pleaded but all she did was look at me and wept.

I stood up, sat close to her, and held her head close to my chest. She sobbed into my shirt for what felt like an eternity. I didn't say anything, I just let her cry. I wanted to tell her how sorry I was, but the words are not coming. All I could do was hold her and hope that somehow, she would know how truly remorseful I was. I had messed up, and I knew it would take more than words to make it right.

"Liam, I know we never had the chance to fall in love with each other but can we please work this out?" She said as she lifted her head and looked deep into my eyes.

"Yes, we will make it work." I said, looking into her red, puffy eyes. "Even though we've only been together for a short time, I have fallen in love with you, and I promise that I will never break your heart." I tried to convey the depth of my feelings through my words, but I knew they would never be enough. All I could do was hope that she understood how much I meant it but she never said anything.

After a long silence, she finally spoke.

"I don't know what to say. I'm hurt, and I'm angry, but I believe that you didn't mean to hurt me. I want to believe that you are truly sorry and that you won't do something like this again."   I could hear the pain in her voice, but I could also hear the willingness to forgive. It gave me hope that we could move past this.

"I forgive you, Liam," she said with a small smile. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around me in a warm embrace. I was speechless. I didn't know what to say or how to respond. All I could do was hold her close.

"Alright, sweetheart," she said, breaking the embrace. "We've had a long journey, and we're both exhausted. Let's get freshened up and get some rest." She walked over to the bags and pulled out two towels. She handed one to me and wrapped the other around her waist, trying to be modest while also getting undressed but I moved closer to her and whispered to her ears.

"We are married, you don't need to cover yourself while changing" I teased and she gave me a  mischievous smile.

"Do you want to take a bath together?" I asked. She smiled and blushed a little, but then shook her head and said, "No, you goofball!" I started laughing, and she just ran into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. I couldn't help but laugh even harder, and I leaned against the wall, letting the laughter take over.

As I stood there, still thinking about how good we are getting along really fast and how lucky I felt to have her in my life, I heard the door unlock. She came out, wrapped in a towel, and she looked even more beautiful. She walked over to me and wrapped her arms around my neck. "I love you so much," she said, her voice soft. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close. "I love you too and thank you for allowing me to feel loved again" I said softly.

I wasn't expecting that we would get along with each other this fast but I was really grateful for that.

"Stop daydreaming and go take your bath" she teased. I realized I had been staring at her face for a long time, lost in my thoughts. I laughed and went to the bathroom, shaking my head as I did.

"You have a call," she called out.

"Who is it?" I yelled back from the bathroom.

"I don't know, it's an unknown number," she said. I told her to pick it up, and a moment later I heard her say, "Hello?" I couldn't hear the other person's voice, but I could hear her responding.

"Do you want him back?" she asked, her voice sounding surprised. I stood frozen, wondering what was happening. Who was on the other end of the line? And what did they want with me?
