CHAPTER SEVEN

Asher's pov

"So babe, what could I possibly do that will make you lose trust in me" I asked Liam as we found a spot in the hotel garden.

"Hmmm, that's a deep question" He said "Nothing actually but I guess if I had to say something it would be finding out that you are keeping a secret from me. I believe in openness in a relationship. I would not appreciate it if I found out  my woman was keeping a secret" He said and my heart skipped a beat but I caution myself to act normal.

"Ok, but you believe I'm not keeping anything from you right?" I asked with a smile.

"Oh, yes, I trust you baby" He replied and gave me a peck.

"So baby, another question" I said with a smile.

"Ok, go ahead" He said, returning my smile, ready for my next question.

" What do you intend to do about this Lucy threat?" I asked, ever since Lucy called yesterday when we arrived in Germany, I have been scared even though Liam assured me there won't be a problem but I'm worried she might eventually harm me like she threatened over the phone.

"Babe, it's just an empty threat, she can't do anything," Liam said to reassure me" She doesn't even know where we are, so she doesn't have any way to get to you" He said while giving my hands a gentle squeeze.

"But babe, we never told her the hotel we lodged in America," I said, and my anxiety started to rise. "How did she know about it? She might be stalking us or something. What if she's not just making empty threats? What if she is really  dangerous?"My heart was already beating very fast. I needed Liam to understand how serious this was.

"Calm down, babe," Liam said as he  pulled me close. "It's possible she overheard our parents talking about where we will lodged for the night after the wedding in America, but there's no way she could know we're in Germany now. And even if she did know, there's no way she could track us down here. We're safe, I promise." I let his words sink in, and I felt my heartbeat slowing down a little.

But then my heart started racing again as I remembered something. "Liam, how was  she able to call you yesterday?" I asked, my voice sounding a bit panicked. "You never gave her your phone number, did you?"

"No, I didn't," he said, shaking his head. "That's really strange. I don't understand how she could have called me but I'm sure she won't harm you, I promise." He said as he moved his hand down my hair.

"Ok, I believe you" I said softly but within  I was still scared.

We continue our conversation when a waiter came with a bottle of wine, but we hadn't ordered any wine.

 "We didn't order this,"Liam said.

"I must have made a mistake,"the waiter said and turn to leave.

"Babe, something doesn't feel right about that waiter. I can't put my finger on it, but I have a bad feeling about him." I said after being sure he's out of hearing but Liam burst into laughter.

"Is this all because of Lucy's threat?" He said amidst laughter.

"No, he has been looking at us suspiciously," I said with tension in my voice.

"I know it sounds ridiculous but I can't shake the feeling that something's off. He also seemed so nervous and jumpy. And didn't you think it was strange that he came with a bottle of wine even though we hadn't ordered any?" Liam's laughter died down and he looked at me seriously.

"That may be right babe," he said."But Let's just enjoy our time together and try not to worry about anything else. You are safe, I promise" I nodded, trying to take his words to heart. But I couldn't shake the uneasiness I was feeling.

"Let's get something to eat" He said as he pulled me up and we walked into the restaurant.

We ordered bratwurst and a cold German beer to wash it down.

As we were enjoying our food, this same waiter walked by and waved at me and smiled. I wondered if  he was truly working here because he seems suspicious to me. I did not bother saying anything so Liam won't say I'm over reacting so I kept it to myself.

I was already forgetting about him when he came again with drinks and this really got Liam's upset.

"We didn't order anything" He shouted at him

"I know sir, it's just an apology for what happened earlier" He said.

"And what was that?" Liam asked, his voice now a little calm.

"For the mix-up with the wine, sir and madam," he said, his tone was remorseful but I still feel that something is not right.

"As a gesture of our sincerest apologies, we would like to offer you a complimentary round of drinks." I looked at Liam, really surprised by the offer. Why would he or the restaurant offer a round of drinks as an apology just for wine mix up?

"Well, we sincerely appreciate the gesture," Liam said, "but it's really not necessary."

"Yes, it's not, we are not angry or annoyed about what happened earlier, people made mistakes so you don't need to go this far just to apologize". I tried to back up what Liam said.

"It's the least we can do to make up for the inconvenience. Besides, the bill is on the house, so why not enjoy a free drink" He said with a smile.

"You didn't inconvenience us, like I said earlier that we all made a mistake and that was what you did" I said. " Just go away with the drinks, we promise not to report you" Liam added.

"Oh, sir and madam, don't think  it's my decision but that's our restaurant policy," he explained but I didn't find it to be true. "If there is even the slightest mishap, we make it up to the customer with a complimentary beverage or dessert. It's just a way of showing how much we value our customers."

"Ok, it's alright. I suppose a free drink couldn't hurt," Liam said, giving in to the waiter's offer. I nodded but not really ok with that.

"Do you think this is something a restaurant can do?" I asked Liam immediately when the waiter left.

'I also said that so he can go, we may decide not to drink it" He said and I nodded. "That's right," I said.

I noticed a paper under the bottle so I lifted it, and the tiny piece of paper fell to the table. "Greetings from Lucy" it read. My heart stopped almost immediately. My worst fears had come true.
