Ch. 2: Even Saviors can be rude.

I jumped and turned to see a breathtaking man with short jet back hair that looked like he styled it with his fingers. I had to crane my neck up to see his face but it was worth it. This man was not from around here with this big muscles, wide shoulders, and fire red eyes. Feeling drool start to pool in my mouth I wiped my head around and started searching for Freya.

"Freya?" I shouted my voice sounding shrill. No sounds came back. "Freya? Where are you?"

"Is this the Hellhound that stays by your side day and night?" He grabbed me under my arms and lifted me like I was a rag doll. "Is she injured?"

"Well, duh, hot shot. Not sure on the actual hellhound thing but she is almost indestructible." I snarked pushing his arms away. "Thanks for taking out the brother but I have it from here. I would rather you explain how you know my name while I find my dog."

Stepping away from him I started moving anything that might be hiding his body. I had no one to pray to or I would be begging for help in just pinpointing where he might be. Tears started flowing blocking my eyesight mixed in with blood from my head wound.

"We are just going to have to leave him behind." Jerk face as I have now named him stated making a grab for my arm. "We need to go."

I kept searching keeping out of reach. "Listen I don't know you, so I am not going anywhere with you, ever. And I would never leave my dog behind. You would have to kill me first so back up and help or leave."

"Don't make me use force. I have or-"

A whimper sounded out from the back of where my house used to be. "Freya!" I shouted running toward her. Jerk face joined me and helped throw everything out of the way until we came upon her laying on his side. Blood covering his body. "No. It's ok. It's gonna be ok."

I dropped to my knees searching his body for the wounds finding too many to count. looking around there wasn't anything to help stop the bleeding. Without any thought of keeping my decency I ripped my shirt off and started tying it around the biggest slashes on his back.

"Let me help." He tried to shove me to the side, but stubbornness and adrenaline was on my side.

"Get back. Get the hell back." I shouted putting my hands over some of the other wounds hoping it would help. "Freya, please. Open your eyes baby. I've seen you heal from worse. You got this." I begged.

"I can help. I promise I will help you."

He put his hand on my shoulder and a spark flew through my system. What the hell was that? He jumped back muttering something under his breath, but I ignored it.

"If you’re going to help, then help. I don't have time for this. Neither does my baby." I moved to Freya’s head gently placing it on my lap. Her breathing was labored as she fought to open his eyes. "This big guy is gonna help us. He killed the other big guy for us. We can trust him for now."

Freya let out a weak growl as the man touched him. He had the audacity to smirk as red light appeared around his hands. The blood was pulling back into his body as the smallest cuts began to heal themselves. What was this guy? Who was he? And why did he think we were going somewhere with him?

Freya growled louder jerking me from staring. Her eyes were open and her breathing had became regular. My shoulders fell in relief and tears poured out. Hugging his head to my chest I let it all out.

"She will be fine with a few days rest." He stated standing back up putting his hands in his pocket. "We really must go. There will be others and I can only do so much on my own."

Without looking up at him I shook my head. "I am not going anywhere with you. We don't know you and we have been doing fine on our own for years."

"I know you have Emmersyn. We have been watching you for a few years now and you have shown us just how strong you are." I jerked my head up at him. "My name is Ajax and I am from Manix University, a school for the supernatural. Your grandfather is the headmaster and would like to meet you."

"My what?" My mouth fell open. My brain felt like he had just spoken gibberish. "Now I know you are lying. I have no family so quit stalking me, creep.”

"You do. Let me show you." He pulled his phone out and showed me a picture of an older version of what I remembered my father looking like. "His name is Wilder and he is waiting."

I looked at Freya asking what she thought. She side eyed the guy and nodded. I kissed her head and looked back over at Ajax.

"Fine but Freya goes with me everywhere, no matter what. You try to separate us and I'll-"

"I get it and I will let everyone else know the deal. Get what you have together, and I will call in help to carry her in.” He walked away without a reply.

I took a breath rubbing Freya's chest feeling the scars that should still be open wounds. "If we go, we go together. I don't trust him nor this so-called grandfather but staying here puts our friends at risk."

Freya licked me letting me know she was ok with my decision. I just wished it wasn't so hard. I had made friends who were like family. I could feel them in their tents worried for me but scared of what they had just saw. Most of them were only humans and hadn't met any supernatural before and the others knew of them but wished they didn't. I protected them. Now what would they do?
