She heard her name faintly and tried to open her eyes. There was a throbbing pain in her cheek. "Mummy, mummy," she heard her daughter's voice and her eyes flew open immediately.
"Desi?" She called out. Desi sat on the floor watching her mum. Lara stood up from the floor in search of her mate.
"Where's your father?" She asked Desi.
"He left," she answered. Lara felt something cold on her face and touched her nose. There was blood pouring out from her nose.
She ran to the bathroom and tried to wash it off. Some drops of blood had already stained the white gown she wore. She didn't care and raised her head after washing her face in the sink.
Lara froze. Her face was swollen. With trembling hands, she touched her face. It seems now was the best time to run. It was already dark and while she didn't know where to go, she knew she couldn't stay any longer.
With determination brimming from her eyes, she went back to the room. She brought out her bag and went through it. It was still intact. She turned to Desi.
"Did you tell your Daddy that we were supposed to play hide and seek?" She asked her.
"No, I'm hungry mummy," Desi answered. Lara touched her daughter's face. "Mummy will get you something to eat later," she murmured.
"Come," she pulled Desi with her. They went to Desi's room and carried her bag. It was too heavy, she observed and decided to leave some things. She took out some clothes from her daughter's bag.
"Come on, get on my back," she told her. Desi climbed her back and held on tightly. Lara knew Desi knew they were running away. Her daughter had seen her get beaten by her father too many times.
She held their bags and together, they ran out of the house. The night was cold and the air was chilly. It was still the first month of the year. Her inner wolf mourned their mate like he was dead.
Lara listened for any suspicious movements as she ran to the stables. She knew the minute she was caught, that would be the end for her and her daughter. She couldn't afford to make any mistake at such a crucial moment.
The stables were very quiet. There were little torches placed everywhere. She removed a torch from its shelf and walked into the stables. The only horse she had been allowed to ride belonged to her mother.
She walked around looking for the horse. He was an old horse but he was all she got. She finally saw him at the end of the stables.
"Hey there, big boy," she touched his face. He wasn't sleeping. "I need your help. Can you help me?" She whispered and pulled him out with his reins. She had to be careful so as not to disturb the other horses.
"Mummy I'm hungry," Desi reminded her again. Lara sighed and brought out a sandwich she had wrapped in her handkerchief. She dropped the bags down and went to look for a saddle.
"Here, now keep quiet," she cautioned her. She saw a saddle and took it to the horse. She placed it on him and ran to pick up her bags. Moving with Desi at her back made her slow.
Suddenly she heard some voices. She pulled the horse behind the stables and hid. The voices got closer. She held her breath. After some seconds, she heard them turn around and walk away. She sighed in relief.
Lara placed Desi and her bags on the horse while she pulled the horse to the field. She glanced back at the mansion where she had spent her whole life yet couldn't feel a little bit of attachment to it.
Once they left the field, she climbed the horse and pulled the reins. Finally, they were off. She placed Desi in front of her, holding onto her tightly.
"Hiya," she whipped the resins, making the horse run faster. George's house was at the end of the town. It made it easier for them to run away without being noticed.
They ran out of the town before anyone could notice the horse. Lara held Desi tightly. Her inner wolf mourned the loss of her mate. She was severing every bond she had with him.
Lara had never left the town before. She didn't know where she was going. After running for about an hour, she slowed down. Her inner wolf urged her to go south so she followed the advice.
"I'm tired mummy," the little girl cried out.
"We'll stop soon," Lara promised. She was confused about where to go. They went further south until they got to a forest. She was skeptical but urged the horse further into the woods.
"I'm scared," Desi whispered. Lara placed a hand on her daughter's head and noticed she was burning up. She tried not to panic, urging the horse deeper.
After some minutes, she pulled the reins of the horse and it stopped. The woods didn't look safe but she needed to stop for the night. She came down from the horse and pulled Desi down.
"Stay here," she told her. She brought down one of the bags. As she opened the bag, she felt the presence of someone and turned around. Her eyes glowed and her fangs came out.
Someone was watching them. She held Desi's arm and pulled her behind her. Upon hearing footsteps, she scooped up Desi and fled, abandoning the horse.
The footsteps got closer. She stopped and hid Desi behind a tree. "Wait here," she told her.
She turned around and shifted into her wolf. In seconds, a beautiful silver wolf stood where Lara once was. She turned to Desi and smiled. Desi smiled back. She knew the wolf was her mother.
As the footsteps got closer, she growled out. "It's a wolf," she heard a voice. The running footsteps stopped.
Lara took a tentative step forward and heard a gunshot. She froze. There were hunters in the woods. She glanced at Desi and shook her head. She didn't want Desi to come out.
She ran towards the sound of the gun. The man saw her and raised the gun towards her. She hits the gun away and growls. He brought out a silver dagger and attacked her again. She raised her paws and clawed his face.
The man fell. She bared her fangs at him. He looked stricken with fear. Another gunshot sound was heard and Lara whimpered. She looked at her stomach and saw that she was bleeding.
She tried to move and fell instead. She howled in pain. Another man came out from the woods with a gun raised at her.
Lara was in intense pain. She tried to stand up but fell again. The man walked towards her and smirked. He raised his gun at her and fired. She closed her eyes expecting the bullet.
"Arghh," the man yelled. She opened her eyes and saw a huge beast attack the man and shred him to pieces. The other man beside her stood up to run but another beast came out and shredded him to pieces.
She felt shivers run through her as she watched the beasts save her. The beasts walked towards her and growled. She whimpered in pain and fear.
"Mummy," she heard her daughter's cry. Lara turned around, scared for her daughter's life. She took a step forward and collapsed due to the huge loss of blood.
"We need to move faster if we want to get there in time," Brad told Cage. Cage grumbled under his breath. "What was that?" He asked with a cocked eyebrow. "We could have just left them there, you know. I see no reason bringing them with us," Cage said. Behind them was the female wolf they had just rescued. She was still unconscious which was becoming a nuisance to them. They had a mission to accomplish and didn't have the time to cater to a stranger. To top it all, her little daughter was sitting with Brad on his horse comfortably. "And what if they get attacked again? Her mother is still unconscious, Cage. It won't do us any harm to assist them. Once the mother becomes conscious, we could leave them in the nearest town." Cage's expression changed. He looked at his brother with a funny expression. "What?" Brad frowned."You? You are going to abandon them in the closest town?" He asked bewildered. Cage knew his twin brother was softhearted and would never abandon them if they asked
Brad came down from his horse and helped the young female wolf. She had stopped bleeding but was still too weak. He brought her down and carried her into the palace. Cage had already left with Desi. He took her inside as the guards ran to the healer's home to call on him. They prepared a room for the mother and daughter while they waited. The healer rushes into the room, thinking something had gone wrong with one of the twins. He was surprised when he saw them hovering around two girls. "Your Majesties!" He yelled as he entered, calling their attention to his presence. They glanced at the door and saw him."Come on, she's dying!" Brad waves him over. The healer sighs in relief when he sees both of them strong without any injuries. He walked towards the bed and saw the ghastly injury on the young woman. He quickly dropped his things on the ground, opened his medical kit and started working on cleaning the injury so it doesn't get infected. The healing process was too slow, he notic
George growled at his men. They were a weak set of pathetic wolves. He released his dominant aura making them fall to their knees in submission. "What do you mean you could not find her, huh?" He yelled angrily. He watched them quiver in fear while glancing at one other. No one was ready to relay the news to him. They were all scared of his violent temper "I asked you, weaklings, a question!" He yelled again, his anger getting the best out of him. His eyes were glowing and his fangs were protruding out of his mouth. "We…. We searched everywhere, Alpha," one of them stuttered in fear. He walked to him and pulled him up. He could not look at George without trembling. "Everywhere? You searched everywhere?" "Y..ye.. yes, Alpha." He threw him across the room angrily. "No, you didn't. Lara is in this pack. She is in this town. At most, she will be in the woods," he growled. The men glanced at each other but stayed quiet. They knew she wasn't in the woods. "You are all useless. Get my
Brad and Cage walk to their throne quietly. They had dismissed Ted and Alexis as they wanted time for themselves. They both had a lot on their minds. Brad was thinking about the two ladies they just brought while Cage was thinking about what to do to be able to see the gems. Being Kings of Lycans, they had a huge task in their minds. It didn't help that they couldn't even do the basic thing that their parents had always been able to do. Cage felt angry at himself. As the first between the both of them, he felt more responsible about the Kingdom. They might be the Kings but he couldn't help but feel more disappointed. Brad glanced at his brother, knowing exactly what was going through his mind. It has occurred to him that Cage might be beating himself up. There was nothing he could do to pull his brother out once he started blaming himself. Unless he suggests sex. "You're quiet, Cage. What is going on?" Brad called out, glancing at him. He was concerned about his brother. "I feel
They stared at her with so much intensity, Lara could not move her body. She was in a big room with two men yet she felt suffocated inside. One of them held her hands, pinning her hands on the headboard. Unconsciously she arched her chest upwards, making their eyes fall on her naked chest. She didn't know how she had gotten naked but it was not a priority at the moment. They stared at her with heat blazing from their eyes. Lara wanted them yet couldn't move. She didn't know who they were but she was drawn to them. "Let us in, Lara," one of them said. She glanced at him but still couldn't see his face. Who were they? "You're holding back," the other grumbled. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn't hear herself. What was going on? Her wolf kept pushing her to accept them. She shook her head. "No, you don't want us?" They asked again. The one holding her hands was still wearing his clothes while the other was naked. The naked one brought his head forward and put one of her nippl
George hesitates to enter his father's room. He knew how angry Robert could be. It was his fault. He should have placed more concern in monitoring Lara but he never thought she would try to run away. She didn't have anywhere to go. Unless she wants to go in search of her father. He was dead though. Lara might not know that but he did. George knew his father had killed him. Everyone knew it. And now, due to his attitude towards her, she is gone. Dead or alive, he wasn't sure. "I can hear you breathing and pacing outside, George. Come in or get out," Robert called out from his room. George stopped pacing and entered inside. "Father," he said as soon as he entered. He glanced at Robert sitting on his bed with his eyes closed. He took a little step and stopped walking, giving some space between him and the bed. Robert was like a calming storm. "Did you find her?" "No Father but we found something else." George brought out the pieces of clothes having Lara's scent that they had found.
"Desi come here!" Lara yelled as Desi ran away from her. She tried to walk to her but was slow. Her injuries still hurt. "No, I want to be with Sir Brad and Sir Cage," Desi replied stubbornly causing Lara to halt in her footsteps. Was that the reason she was trying to run away? She frowned. Desi didn't understand and she wasn't going to explain it to her. She was too young. Lara sighed. Desi also stopped running and stood by the side. Lara was confused. It was going to be hard, running away from this palace. She didn't like it. While she was grateful for their help, she didn't want to stay any minute longer. The healer that came to check up on her advised her not to move much or else she'll tear his stitches. His stitches were very bad actually but it didn't matter to him. If she wanted to heal any faster then she will do as he said. Lara glanced around. The Lycan maids all stared at her as they walked past her. Some glared at her. She wrapped her arms around her chest, feeling n
Lara lifted her gaze at him. How did he know? She didn't want to talk about her life. It didn't matter if they had saved her once. She was going to try and forget George. "My reasons are of no concern to you." "They are my concerns because we saved you and you are staying in my palace. I need to know in case of an emergency," Cage insisted, knowing she wouldn't want to talk about it. She was in a complicated situation. "I'm grateful you saved my life," she glanced at Brad. "But I don't want to talk about my life to strangers. If you believe that I might cause problems for you, then I'll gladly leave with my daughter." "And where will you be going to?" He cocked an eyebrow. Cage knew she had nowhere to go. Her expression told him everything. She was very easy to read. "That's none of your business," she answered and he growled. Lara whimpered, scared. Brad had had enough. "The both of you should calm down. We can talk about this calmly. And Lara, you're not going anywhere."She g
