CHAPTER 7 All Your Fault

  Rhea's POV

Walking down the aisle with Mercy by my side after the meeting, my heart was lively and festive about everything that had happened there. Though I was concerned about my wolf's absence on my special day, the outcome of the meeting distracted me from my worries.

Striding through the hallway, "Wow!" I groaned as I bumped into someone..

"Ahh!!" The person let out a squeal but managed not to fall. When she turned around to face me, she had a fierce and disgusted look as if I had bumped into her on purpose.

Looking up, I murmured "Lila" in surprise to see her there. However, she ignored me and scowled with a raised voice, "How dare you hit me?!"

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion at her accusation. Hit! Really? I had just bumped into her unintentionally, and she knew that.

How dare she raise her voice at me? I blamed Kian for all of these embarrassing moments. Peering around I noticed our little misunderstanding. Yeah little misunderstanding, I guess that's what I can call it for now.

Looking around, I saw that we had attracted everyone's attention in the hallway.

Mercy doesn't seem that comfortable anymore, I noticed how she stood beside me with her head lowered.

"I didn't hit you, Lila. I just bumped into you unintentionally, and I am truly sorry for that ," I apologized politely, but she continued to stare at me with disgust and hatred as if I had committed the worst offense.

"Sorry, huh!" She spits out with a bitter laugh, "You hit me, and if I hadn't caught myself, I would have fallen, and my dress would be dirty by now," she growled while pointing at her dress.

I sighed deeply and realized that she was making a big deal out of nothing. Even worse, she was my Beta, and we didn't get along. "You think it's appropriate for a Luna to be clumsy and act however she wants because of her title," she said harshly, surprising me.

I sure wasn't expecting that though! What does the Luna title have to do with this whole thing and if I am to be angry I should have reminded her about her absence at the conference meeting but for unknown reasons, I feel delighted that I didn't go with her and that has been the main reasons that I have restricted myself from biting off her head concerning her nonchalant attitude.

But come to think of this; how can someone be this arrogant even after I have apologized for what was not fully my fault?

Trying to keep my cool, I said, "Look I am sorry and never meant to bump into you but please be mindful of the things you do say,"

"Eww! Mindful of what?" she smirked while running her eyes up and down my body, trying to intimidate me. I folded my arms across my chest and forced myself to smile reasonably at her.

I smiled inwardly as I noticed how she had been taken back by my action, her failed attempt to intimidate me.

The surprise on her face to see me standing rooted to my spot with my head held high. All of Kian's mistresses had never resisted hurling hurtful words my way, ensuring that I felt broken before leaving me, but not this time around.

But today, I have decided to speak up for myself. What happened wasn't truly my fault. It was a mistake, and besides being a minor issue, I wasn't expecting her to take it this far.

Did she think that bringing four different packs together to form an ally, especially with the Thorn pack, was easy? I feel proud of myself and won't let anyone intimidate me.

Perhaps luck wasn't on my side because she responded with a new method, one that I hate the most.

"Eww, who do you think you are? That I should be mindful of what I say, huh?" she scrunches her nose in disgust with a silly dirty smirk playing on her bottom lip.

"I am your Luna, Lila. Be careful," I warned her, but she just laughed it off.

"Luna," she spits in a mocking tone.

All this because of that jerk, Kian... I gulped hard before smiling at myself with my subconscious giving me a thumbs-up.

I took a few strides in her direction, ignoring the shaky Mercy beside me. She took in my every step before I halted in front of her.

"No matter what you do, Lila, I am still your Luna," I said, feigning pity in my tone.

"Nope," she retorted, stepping closer to me so that there was no space between us, "You are just a Luna by title and nothing to show for it."

"Watch your tone, Lila," I growled, looking annoyed.

"Shouldn't I be angry at you for neglecting your duties just for your sexual affairs?" I mocked, with my lips pressed firmly in anger.

She seemed taken aback before a smile flashed on her face, "Not my fault that he couldn't resist me, giving him what his beloved wife couldn't give him," she slurred.

And before I knew it, I lifted my hand and landed a resounding slap across her cheek. I heard a few gasps and muffled laughs from the throngs as I crowded her cheeks with a heated smack.

I was surprised at my action just like her, but I pulled on a long face, concealing my nervousness, "The fact that you have an affair with my husband doesn't give you the right to neglect your duties just for your horrendous sexual affairs," I barked. But she just stood there staring at me in total disbelief and slanted embarrassment because this is the first time she had seen me react this way, and also being the first mistress to get a hot slap from me. I already know how her name will be smeared to the ground today by the other mistresses; she will be mocked.

"You... You... Slapped me," the disbelief in her tone still says it all that she sure wasn't expecting that.

"I am your Luna, Lila. I deserve some respect. You are just a mistress and not a wife. So better watch your tone because next time, it won't just be a slap," I warned before walking away.

Brushing my elbow against her, pushing her away a bit before walking away, leaving her all alone there.

It was all your fault, Kian. The insults and daily disgrace all started from you. Though I hope that you will still change one day, just one day!
