After seeing my first power unlocked, Parker and I stayed silent for a few moments, staring at each other. I don’t know what’s going through his head, but I know he’s questioning everything.

As I let out a sigh, I intertwine my fingers with his and softly utter, “Come with me.”

I take him back to bed. He lies on his back, and I snuggle into his chest, listening to the rhythm of his heart, which beats strong and constant.

As I run my fingers over his chest, I can feel the quickening of his breath beneath my touch. I smile because it’s lovely to know that you can affect your mate. He continually strokes my hair.

I clear my throat and tell him, “When I fell asleep, after you marked me, I saw mom and the goddesses.”

His caresses stop, and he remains still. After a few seconds, he says, “What did they tell you?”
