CHAPTER 7

FORBIDDEN LOVE

CHAPTER 7

Still, Maxine’s POV

AFTER the ten minutes break we had to go back to the hall. This serves as the place where we all gather.

“Okay participants, fall in line by course,” announced Miss Gillany. Everyone followed.

“Sit on the ground,” She ordered again. We sat in rows on the green ground.

“Maxine, look,” Meghan whispered from behind me. She’s sitting next to me.

I followed her snort and caught Hevo looking in our direction. They are the first line since they are the higher degree and we are the next line. She smiled a little shyly and simply waved.

“I think he likes you,” Meghan teased.

I shook my head. “Nah, he’s not. He’s just nice to me..”

“I don’t think so.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I’ll bet.”

“It’s up to you,” I just shook my head.

We adjusted our seats when the mic echoed.

“Good morning students!” greeted by the newly arrived Instructor. “I will be your first speaker for this morning. By the way, I am Belsie Macalisang but you can call me, Ma’am Bellz.”

She looks nice.

“Actually, I just arrived from Europe for my research yesterday. I thought I wouldn’t be able to follow here because I still have jet lag, but thanks to God, I made it to be here today with you guys.”

After a while she started to discuss.

Blah, blah, blah!

I yawned. I don’t know, but this is really the best sleeping pills for students who are lazy to listen, ‘The discussion’.

I raised my face when I felt something hit my head although it didn’t hurt. I saw a beaten leaves. I turned my back to Meghan.

“What?”

“Can you just pass your stoning first. We are not at school.” I snorted at Meghan.

“Not me.” She shook her head and snorted in Hevo’s direction so I followed. He smiled and told me not to sleep.

“See? He likes you,” Meghan whispered.

I returned my attention to Ma’am, I just ignored what Meghan said.

“Okay students, that’s the end of our discussion.”

It was as if everyone was revived from their sleepiness by what they heard.

Oh, thanks GOD. Time to eat already. I am starving.

“Have a question?” Miss Macalisang asked.

No one spoke, it seemed like everyone was hungry.

“Okay, before we finish I’ll just ask a question.”

My Goodness!

“Is anyone here familiar with a gray wolf?”

A few raised their hands.

Not me. I am not aware of the different races of that.

“Great. Actually, that’s my research study all about since I’m fond of wildlife species.”

A few silent moments passed before Ma’am spoke again.

“But do you guys believe in the existence of human wolves?”

>_< Our faces.

Ma’am seems to be hungry. Of course there is no such thing. They only exist in movies.

Ma’am suddenly laughed at our reaction, but immediately became serious.

“I know what you’re thinking. But believe it or not.. they do exist.” She took something from the bag, a flash-drive. “Lemme show you something. This one caught my attention when I was traveling.”

So silent. Everyone seems to be curious.

“But this has nothing to do with our topic a while ago of course. I just want to share with you what I saw.”

Still no one spoke and we just stared at the white cloth where the projector was focused. Everyone seemed to be interested to see what Ma’am was saying.

“This picture was captured when I traveled somewhere in central Europe,” She said in the picture shown on the screen. It was taken by a woman with large scratches on her face and chest while inside the car. There were also traces of scrapings from the hoof, perhaps it was made by an unusual animal. Around it were curious people.

“The woman was not alone. She’s with her kid and husband when the incident happened,” continued Ma’am and showed the next photo. A man was exposed not far from the car, his chest was hollow, and his lower body was gone.

I bow down. I can’t see the picture, I feel like my stomach is going to turn.

“Excuse me.” It was Hevo’s voice.

“Yes, Mr.?”

“Hevo Fontanella. You’ve mentioned that she was with her husband and kid. Where is the child?”

“The child is now in the care of a hospital in central Europe. He was lucky to survive.”

“And how did they know that it was a human wolf who did it?” Miss Beatriz followed question. “Maybe it’s a different animal.”

“It’s according to the child. He saw how the man his Daddy was talking to turned into a monster.”

It’s scary.

“You guys seem to have been carried away by Ma’am’s story,” said Miss Gillany. “Okay participants, stand up and line up for lunch except for those who participated in the punishment.”

“Thank you guys for listening,” added Miss Macalisang. “See you on my class next week. We will continue the story.”

Lucas’s POV

FROM the backside of the palace, I passed through the wall and went straight to the balcony on the third floor where my room is. It’s past two in the afternoon. I had fun strolling that I wasn’t aware of the time.

I formed a smile as I took off my t-shirt. That girl’s face reaction amused me. I don’t know what made me help them find food. It just that I had to do something when I heard them talking about it. Weird.

But darn, I didn’t expect what they did.

Would they have to undress in front of me?

Of course I was there.

Suddenly, I felt a little bit fever down on my belly reminiscing the scene a while ago. Shaking my head, I decided to take a shower.

I went downstairs after taking a shower. I met Nanny Ebith on the stairs.

“Good afternoon, Sir,” She greeted.

I smiled in response.

Nanny Ebith has been our housemaid since we migrated here. And believe it or not, she knows our secret and the guard as well. But they are kind and trustworthy.

“Shall I make you cabbage salad?” asked by her. She knows it’s my favorite.

“Let me.”

I WAS keeping in the kitchen. I felt hungry and wanted to eat cabbage salad. Weird, but I think I’m the only CANIS vegetarian.

I took out the cabbage from the fridge and the other ingredients to use.

“Cabbage salad again?”

I stopped cutting the cabbage and looked up. It was my sister, she just entered the kitchen.

“Couldn’t that blow you away, baby brother?” She asked with a laugh.

“Stop it.”

“Fine.”

“You know I saw her again,” I uttered without giving her a glimpse.

“Who?”

“That girl at the grocery store.”

“Then?” I heard her hissed under her breath. From the corner of my eye, I saw her coming closer and watching me.

“Nothing. I am just amazed by her.”

“Forget about her. You’ll only get hurt.”

I arched an eyebrow. “I did not say anything.”

“That’s where it’s going,” She insisted.

I sighed in dismay. I know it can’t be. But jez, I didn’t say anything that I like that girl. I just said I was entertained. Is that hard to understand? And why am I explaining anyway?

Lourine put down something, a newspaper.

“They attacked again.”

[Family attacked by a BEAST]

That is what is written on the page.

“I’ve read that,” I replied while busy doing. The attack happened somewhere in central Europe.

“Your birthday is coming.”

I stopped what I was doing and looked at Lourine again.

“Lourine, can’t we live a normal life?” I snarled, unable to hide the annoyance in my voice. “Can we just forget the other CANIS and even that old hag for good?” Pissed off, I put down the knife I was holding. “Can’t believe you ruined my day.”

I completely stopped what I was doing and left big sister alone in the kitchen. Bored, I went back to my room.

I am not happy that I have become like this.

And for HEAVEN’ sake I want to curse my origin!
