Ares' pov

My muscles tightened as I stared at her.

Her eyes held so namy emotions but the one that was so clear was hurt.

My heart clenched, knowing I was the cause of that hurt.

“Ares,” she called from where she stood, not bothering to walk towards me.

I mentally cringe at the emotion in her voice. Or lack of.

I didn't move either. I couldn't.

It was a huge dick move on my part but at the time, it looked like the best idea.

As I looked at the heavy clouds in her eyes, I realized just how terrible it was.

“What's going on?” She asked, carefully keeping any emotion away from her voice.

“Nothing,” I replied.

How could I bring myself to tell her?

“Nothing?” She furrowed her eyebrows and a slight irritation was evident in her tone. “You literally ghost me for days and you say nothing?” She spat.

I winced at the harshness of her tone, but she wasn't done.

“What? Is it something I did? Something I said?” She asked.

Just great.

Now she was blaming herself for my stupidity.
