Chapter 111

After a long morning of stolen kisses and not-so-intimate touches, because he wouldn't break his resolve, we were finally ready to go.

“Where's everyone?” I asked as we got downstairs and there was still nobody in sight.

“I told you,” he replied, dragging my suitcase and his along.

My mouth formed an 'o' and I cringed at what exactly he meant by questioning.

He said if they didn't get anything out of them, then they would all be asked to resume duty, so nobody would suspect that investigations were still ongoing till the killer was caught.

My eyes unconsciously traveled to Candice's room and a small sigh left my lips.

“I'll find them,” Ares whispered beside me as if reading my thoughts.

I smiled stiffly and nodded as we walked out of the house and into his car.

“Hey,” he turned to me after I was buckled in. “No sulking. Look at it as a mini vacation,” he told me, making a genuine smile to spread across my cheeks.
