Chapter 93: Freedom and peace

Charlotte’s pov

I opened my eyes and found everyone around me.

“Are you okay?” Sebastian asked me and my eyes landed on Logan who was still asleep.

“What happened?” I asked them and May looked at me with a smile.

“The curse, that links you and Logan has been broken.

He is no longer a part of your blood mark curse,” she explained, and I looked at them.

“What are you saying?

Are you telling me that Logan is now free from the curse?” I asked them and May nodded.

I trust May, she is a really capable witch and wouldn’t make such a mistake.

But how?

We did nothing to break the curse so why did it break?

“How did the curse break?” Sebastian asked the same question.

Logan groaned as he opened his eyes.

I remember everything that I felt at that moment.

I remember the hate I felt towards Damon back then as he forcefully marked me.

Could it be?

Could it be that the hatred was the real binding force between us?

Could it be that when I forgave him the curse automatically broke?

Just like how I regained my memories the moment I fell in love with Sebastian.

The moment I acknowledged my feelings for him was when the spell broke.

That is what the blood mark curse is.

It’s a curse of hatred that runs in my blood and has been engraved in my soul.

But how?

I didn’t hate anyone back then.

That’s what the blood mark curse is.

“May take a sample of my blood, you and I will try to find clues in my blood,” I said to May who nodded.

“Is there anything we can do?” David asked and I nodded.

“I need you to send a letter to mom, deliver it yourself and make sure she reads it,” I said, and he looked at me.

“Your mother?

Why?

Why would you want to send a letter to your mother?” Sebastian asked me.

“Because time Is running out and if I die again this time I want to have a proper goodbye,” I answered him.

Sebastian quickly held my hand, “you will not die,” he said, and I smiled.

“The reason we are here is because I tried to defy nature,” I said as I closed my eyes.

From a very young age we were taught that our main purpose is to bring about balance in the world.

That’s what witches have always done and continue to do.

That is why we are the ones who have the power to curse an entire generation.

Why witches were given power to curse or put a mark on someone’s soul.

My coven believed in that and nothing else.

I should have tried to convince them and tried to show them my way.

I should have told them instead of them hearing it from a complete stranger.

I should have shown them that what I was trying to do wasn’t at all bad.

That it would benefit us, we would get to pass on knowledge to the new generation.

So many spells have been lost with time.

So many concoctions and portions that worked wonders have now been long forgotten.

It would have been a choice; witches and any supernatural beings would have a choice.

To either die and go to the after life or to live for as long as they wish.

Hell, I am sure that had it worked I would have found an antidote.

I would have been able to reverse the spell and after you are done with immortality you can go back to being mortal and happily die.

Is that something good?

To be forever young, to pass down your knowledge to the new generations.

To watch as the world changes and you along with it.

“But I still wont let you die, not this time. I cant watch you die again,” Sebastian said, and I smiled.

“Please, can we do things my way now?” I asked them and they all nodded.

“I will help,” Logan said, and I shook my head and looked at him.

“No, you go home and deal with everything there.

You aren’t part of this curse anymore, you are free,” I said.

He shook his head.

“I am the reason for this curse, you trusted me with your secret and yet my greed led us here,” he said.

“No, my coven did this to me.

Their anger, ego and hatred is what bought me here. Not you,” I said.

“Your brother, he is the one who murdered your mother,” I informed him, and he looked at me.

“What?

Justice killed the Queen Luna?

How is that even possible?” Clara asked me.

“It’s just an inkling, so go home and try and find that out. I am begging you please,” I said to Logan.

“I agree with her, if she is telling the truth the Justice needs to be stopped,” Alexa said.

“If he can kill his own mother then think about your sister. Find out the truth,” Clara added.

I got took his hand in mine.

“I know you are confused and feel guilty, You don’t know who you are anymore.

So, I pray that someday you find yourself.

That’s somehow, somewhere with someone else. Don’t worry about me,” I said and then hugged him.

“Please let our ill-fated relationship end here,” I said to him, and his eyes landed on me.

“Do you think I deserve that? That I deserve to find myself?” he asked me, and I smiled.

“Everyone deserves peace,” I said, and he nodded with tears in his eyes.

“No matter what break that curse,” he said.
