KATYA

The dungeon was dark and the smell of blood was pungent in the air. In the cell I sat in, there was a little window that gave the moon permission to seep rays of light rendering the room a little lighter than dark.

I was playing with my palm on the cold floor, reminiscing on how smooth my plan was going until someone decided to betray me. No one knew about my plan except my sister and she was at the wedding reception.

Who could have ranted me out except her? Sighing, I realized I could never trust anyone not even the daughter of the couple that had taken me in with a baby.

“Bow your head, the Alpha approaches!” The guard by the side of my cell gate uttered. I rolled my eyes at the announcement, it was just the arrival of my mate.

Alpha Arden, a cruel man who had done nothing but make me suffer was coming to me right now. His steps hit the floor with a powerful demeanor and I sneered looking away.

He arrived and then squatted in front of me, the gated cell blocking us. I felt his eyes on me, poring into my skin as though he was going to eat me raw. The stare lasted for one minute, neither of us saying anything, and me, avoiding his eyes as much as possible. I always avoided his eyes because he was my mate, and the mate bond was still in existence. I did not want to soften around him.

“Leave, and everyone!” He roared, his anger emitting. I flinched when his voice sounded in my ears, he had the demeanor of more than ten Alphas combined. Deep down, I feared him.

The guards left and the room only had the two of us. I wondered what he wanted to do with me. His eyes were still on mine, I could feel it but I’d be damned to look at his face and eyes right now.

“You once said you loved me, was it a lie? To penetrate me and then my father,” he asked, his voice breaking and I turned to him.

This was because I had never heard his voice break. My heart tugged and I stared at him for a while before remembering my plan never to soften around him. This man and his father had shown me cruelty.

“Yes, the same way you forcefully penetrated me at the age of thirteen. The same way your father’s silver bullet penetrated my parents' bodies, tearing their skin most painfully. That same way!” I couldn't see my face but I knew it was cold as hell. My anger had simmered, I was deeply angry and soaked with revenge.

“Read my lips, Arden. One day, I will revenge against you and your father and you both will smell death in the most painful way known to man!” I promised, our eyes met when I made this promise.

Arden scoffed and stood and my eyes followed his tall and huge structure.

“You are in there, Katya. How are you gonna do that?” He laughed and looked away before turning around.

“Did you know your little stunt that day got me pregnant?” I asked, looking at him and he stiffened before turning to me.

“What did you just say?” He asked.

“Our little stunt - penetration that day got me pregnant and I did give birth to a female child. Hence if I die here, you're never gonna see your child.” I smiled looking away hoping it’d work.

“You are lying?” He asked his eyes in mine. Emotions ran through them making me smirk, it was working.

“You would never know.” Then I turned around expecting the words.

Arden held the gate tightly and said;

“I will get you out but you have to bring my child to me!”

“Chelsea, I'm gonna name her Chelsea,” I said to the mid-wife who smiled with tears in her eyes. She knew the pain I passed through to give birth to her, but she was scared of telling me the words that I already know of.

“You know that...”

“Yes, I know. Just don't say it.” I told her before looking away. I was only fourteen years old but the love of the baby had established in my heart. How could I do that something like that?

“If you want to give this child a good life, you have to return her to where she came from.” The midwife said it regardless.

I knew that.

I knew this.

My child was born an imbecile because of my young age. She was only a day old but she was already facing a lot. How could I kill my own child? How could I?

I turned to the midwife.

“I can't kill her, I can't watch her slip away from my hands. I want her to live, I want to be able to hold her in my hands every day. Am I being selfish?” I asked.

The midwife shook her head, lying to me. I knew I was being selfish, I was thinking about my feeling alone forgetting the kind of my life my child would live when she gets older. The bullies she was going to face. The comments from people every day. Knowing she would never fit in. She would have a lot of questions as to the reason she was different from others.

She would be so sad but I didn't think of that.

I was only thinking of the pain I’d go through if she was gone. I wouldn't be able to hold her in my hands anymore.

Looking back at my child, I took my hand to her face. There were so small. One of her eyes was slightly bigger than the other making it hard for one to see her green orbs yet she smiled at me. Her lips were small and ruffled at each end and I knew it would make it difficult for her to talk when she gets older. Still, my darling child smiled at me.

“Do it. Now that I think about it, I want her to smile until the very end,” I uttered while a big bunch of tears rolled down my eyes.

I love you, Chelsea.
