KATYA.

Pain. Pain.

I could only feel pain.

Nothing but pain.

“Is she alive?” I heard voices.

Then I heard footsteps. I heard beeping.

Annoying beeping of machines, loud in my ears, terrorizing me.

Make it stop!

Make it fucking stop!

I wanted to scream but I couldn't. My eyes only went wide open, and I could see my surroundings but I couldn't let out any reactions. On my face, I felt something attached to it, like it was stuck to my face and it was uncomfortable.

I tried to touch it but it was impossible. I couldn't lift my hands or anything else. Just then, someone rushed into the room. It was my adoptive mother, Jennie.

“Chelsea! Chelsea!” She called and rushed to me.

Chelsea?!

I asked myself.

“No, ma’am, you can't touch her.” I heard one of the people beside me utter.

“Why is there a bandage on her face? What is wrong with her? She just lost her mother, nothing should happen to her!” I heard my adoptive mother cry.

No, Mom, I wasn't dead. It's Chelsea that died.

I uttered in my head with tears forming in my eyes.

Later, I discovered that I was in a coma. The doctor came every day and checked my opened eyes. According to him, it was normal. I blacked out for more than three months.

He told my adoptive mother that I was getting better. She came and checked on me every day which was very nice of her, I felt like I wasn't left alone. For the three months, I used it to gather my feelings and told myself Chelsea was gone and I needed to brace myself.

Gently, I started lifting my fingers and then my limbs.

Later, I was able to move my head and then my arms, and then my legs. It soon got better, I was becoming more healthy as time went by. The nurses didn't need to feed me anymore and I didn't need to use the bed pee hole to do my shit anymore.

My adoptive mother, Jennie continued to visit me. She brought fruits and the likes for me. She made me tea and gave me special treatment. I did know that Jennie treated Chelsea very well but I never knew it was up to this. I always worked, ever since I was taken in at the age of fifteen, I worked three jobs and gave all of them to Jennie to take care of Chelsea and pay for the nanny.

Although I never had time, I always came to check on Chelsea and did a thorough check on her body in case anyone bullied her. This was the reason I was shocked that she had been bullied. My poor baby.

Sipping my soup, the door opened and Jennie walked in. She had some provisions in her hands and then a big smile on her face.

“Chelsea, how are you?” Jennie asked, looking at me.

“Fine,” I answered, and my voice came out very well. Previously, I had lost my voice but it seemed to have been back today.

I raised my head when I didn't hear Jennie’s voice. The expression on her face was shocking, she kept looking at me.

“Chelsea, did you just answer me?” She asked.

“Yes, is anything the problem?” I asked, looking at her with raised brows which she would have seen if these bandages were still not tied to my face.

“Oh, my goodness!!” She gasped, and her hands went over her mouth.

Only then did the realization hit me, Chelsea had a distorted voice because she had swollen tongue.

“Your t..tongue, they look normal.” Her hands went over her mouth while she kept checking my entire face.

I looked away very quickly and said nothing afterwards. Another two weeks passed, with random

Medications, test, and check from the doctor.

Finally, it was time to remove the bandage over my head. The doctor had said I fell on my face and this was the reason they had to do some surgery.

“Chelsea no matter what you look like, you are always beautiful to me, okay?” Jennie uttered.

I nodded my head. A part of me was also scared of what I would look like. I really hoped it wouldn't be worse.

“Miss Chelsea, are you ready to see your face?” I was asked. I didn't give the doctor a response because how could I be ready to see my more distorted face?

Let's get this over with hence I can start my revenge plan. The doctor came forward and started cutting the stuff off my face, a nurse was next to him giving him all that he needed.

I closed my eyes and patiently waited. Wraps after wrap left my face, relieving me of the weight I had carried on my face for months. Finally....

Gasps fell from Jennie’s mouth as the last wrap came off my face.

Chills ran down my spine and the fear of opening my eyes resurrected.

“Miss Chelsea, you may open your eyes and see yourself.” The doctor's voice sounded.

Damn, I hate his voice. He always talks as if everything was all good and well.

“No, take the mirror away from me!” I uttered with anger, turning the other way.

“No, Chelsea, you have to look at yourself in the mirror.” Jennie stood and came to me.

Then she squatted in front of me and started looking at my face well, she looked at me as though I had grown two heads. This prompted me to turn back to the mirror and then I saw my reflection.

My mouth went open on its own, I wasn't sure I controlled it myself. My appearance shocked me.

Aside from the fact that I wasn't Katya anymore, what I saw in the mirror made me blink my eyes countless times.

“Is... Is that me?” I asked pointing at my reflection.
