For what seemed like the hundredth time, I tried to call the warrior who I tasked to follow my mate .

But once again, there was no response. Panic began to creep into my heart as I realized that not only could I not reach the warrior, but I couldn't feel our connection either.

Something was wrong, and I couldn't shake the feeling that my mate and the warrior were in trouble.

My wolf paced restlessly within me, its voice echoing with accusations.

This was all my fault, it claimed. If only I hadn't rejected her, she wouldn't be in danger. Anger welled up within me, and in a fit of frustration, I shut my wolf out, blocking its presence from my mind.

What will I tell the pack members if something happens to the warrior?

For two days now, I couldn’t reach him.
