PROLOGUE

"I'm not happy anymore, Mateo! I want to go back to my husband!"

I tightly covered my ears from Mom's screams.

"Do you think I'm still happy with this situation, Yura?! No!"

I snuggled closer to the corner of the wall at Dad's shout. Here they are, fighting again. My heart was pounding with nervousness as my lips couldn't stop trembling.

Every time this happens, I feel out of breath but still hope they will be okay.

"Dear God, please, bind my parents with love and no hatred. I want us to be whole and not divided, G," I said weakly before closing my eyes.

But I also became aware of how harshly Dad pounded the table. I pressed myself even harder against the wall because of that. I am unable to stop the weak sobs coming from my lips because of the nervousness and fear I am feeling.

"Why did you even keep this child alive?! Then what? You'll leave her to me?!"

I sobbed harder after seeing Dad's index finger pointed at me. My throat felt like it was aching as hot liquid fell down my cheek. Suddenly, I could even taste how salty they were.

"The child is innocent, Mateo—"

"I can't take care of her! I will also go back to my wife, and surely she won't accept the child," Dad's voice got weaker at the end.

They will separate!

My young mind was focused only on that, on their separation. I sobbed louder and shook my head violently.

"Frank won't accept her even more!" Mom shouted as she put things in her suitcase.

"I'll leave then as well." Dad quickly took his own suitcase.

"What are you planning to do with your daughter? "Are you planning to send her to an orphanage?" Mom sharply looked at Daddy.

"Come what may!"

No one likes me.

I sobbed even more at the thought that I had no one to be with them.

They don't like me!

"M-om, d-on't l-eave m-e!"

I hurriedly ran and tried to reach the hem of my Mom's dress.

"Mom—"

"Stop there! I can't take you with me! My husband will be even more angry if he sees you!" She shook my hand away and then left in a hurry.

"Mom!" I sobbed and almost ran out of breath from crying.

My vision was still blurry as I watched Mom walk away when Dad also passed in front of me carrying his suitcase.

"D-ad! Bring with you." I tried to hug his legs.

I felt him stunned. I thought he would stay that day for me. But he didn't.

"D-ad, T-ake me with you! M-om!"

But they are deaf and have no intention of listening to my infancy. No one turned or stepped back.
