CHAPTER 2

It was as if my head was being split as I opened my eyes slowly. Plus the fact that the surroundings was pure white.  I think I was even more dizzy that I couldn't see any color.

"She's awake. I'll go, just don't let anyone find out that I brought her here."

I think my ears perked up when I heard it that I got up in no time. My eyes widened as I looked at someone's body build that had just come out of the door. The door closed softly, so I couldn't recognize the man.

My eyes became wider and I immediately hugged myself. My lips were still parted when I saw how thick the white blanket was that was wrapped around my body.

My heart was beating fast, and I was terrified at the thought of what might have happened to me. I don't even remember how I got to this place. I'm not even sure if it's a hotel or a mental hospital! All I see is white!

What did you do last night at the engagement, Mayu?!

I closed my eyes tightly and tried to remember what happened at the party. But nothing else comes to my mind but the small empty box. After that, I don't remember anything; my vision just went dark.

I tried to remember if I was able to go home or even leave the venue, but nothing! The last memory I really have is of the small empty box.

Empty!

My eyes grew wide as my mouth parted.  The old man's voice also flowed into my mind.

"The one whose box is empty will be my grandson's fiancée!"

"Shit! I'm the freaking fiancée!" I shouted loudly.

"I'm the fiancée! Dear Lord! What a gift you gave me!" I blew a flying kiss in the air and waved my hands.

I drew a wide smile on my lips and gently tucked my hair behind my ear. I can't stop the thrill of finally being able to change my last name. Finally, my parents can accept me!

But my smile suddenly disappeared after remembering that my fiancé was Aldo Hendrix.

If my calculations are correct, he is also the man who wants to chase me. The man without a wrinkle in his body and the man with two colored eyes.

I swallowed after remembering how brave and strong his eyes looked. I feel that I will die young if I go ahead with the marriage. It's like just one look from him will knock you down.

Knock you down in pleasure! Rawr!

I was speechless and almost slapped myself for my stupidity. What's the pleasure? It looks like that monster is ready to take your life. If I hadn't known the man was human, I would have thought he came from another planet.

"How are you going to deal with that, Mayu?" I was annoyed with myself.

I shook my head a few times and buried myself in the soft blanket, but that made me open my eyes.

How can I get married when I'm here in an unknown place?! Add to that, I'm in the room where a man just came from?!

I blinked and was stunned.

I think I'm going crazy with so many thoughts. It still crossed my mind that something might have happened last night.

Shit, Mayu!

I narrowed my eyes and lifted the blanket to see if I was still intact. My hands were shaking as I felt rats running inside my chest. I think they are pushing each other so hard that my chest doesn't want to stop pounding.

I bit my lip as I closed my eyes and checked myself. My forehead was still wrinkled after feeling the soft and smooth fabric. It feels like being soaked in fabric conditioner ten times!

I slowly opened my one eye and gently removed the blanket. I was completely relieved and breathed a sigh of relief.

"You're so blessed, Mayu! You're still whole! You're still whole—"

I stopped after hearing the doorknob turn. After that, the door finally opened and it showed the man who had just filled my mind. But now, he is alive and fresh-looking in his khaki shorts and white long-sleeved shirt folded up to his elbows. Even his hair was obviously freshly washed as a few strands were damp on his forehead.

I was still staring at the three open buttons of his long sleeve. He seems alluring and can attract anyone who will look at his chest with a few hairs.

"You are not panicking that you were kidnapped huh?" His eyes of a different color were sharp, which made me even more nervous.

The depth of his green eyes almost matched his cloudy silver eyes. I don't know where to focus my attention.  Whether on the green, or silver-colored eye.

"Speechless?" he asked, then smirked.

His eyebrows twitched slightly before he slipped his hand into the pocket of his khaki shorts and walked closer.

I quickly hugged myself and stepped back even though I wasn't sure if I still had steps to take on the bed.

"Afraid? Why are you feeling scared now if you intentionally stole Addison's ring box? Aren't you happy that I'll be your fiancé?" His eyes became sharper and almost burst into flames.

I blinked, and my heart couldn't calm down. Fear has caused my muscles to freeze.I don't even think about this box that I took. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't steal any boxes!

"Stop moving. Why don't we just enjoy this mess you made?" he challenged and came closer to the bed.

I swallowed hard as the word enjoyment came to mind. Does he mean we will do that?

My tongue itched, and another step made me scream.

"Monster!" I stretched out my hand so that he would pull me and not fall completely, but he did nothing but watch me fall to the floor.

I still snorted weakly from the pain in my hip and leg after falling. It's not too much. I guess I was just shocked. I massaged my leg before turning to him and giving him a look.

"Shut up, Id*ot!" I winced and tried to stand up.

He did nothing but frown and watch me impatiently as I struggled to stand up.

"Addison is far better than you. You're a bit immature. I don't really know how you did it, but you stole the box from her hands—"

"Excuse me?" I raised an eyebrow at him, but that made him smirk.

The pain in my heart that Addison is better than me is already painful, and being called a thief doubles the pain. I don't know, but it felt heavy that I was being compared to Addison. To my sister, who has a complete family and a parent by her side.

What do I have against a woman who has already won her own family?

I smiled bitterly but quickly hid it and didn't want him to notice it. He might say I'm asking for pity.

"I don't mind really. It's just that, she looks much sexier than you. Maybe she's way better in bed too compared to you," he added.

I was shocked and he seemed to be testing my patience. He stared and did not take his eyes off of me.

It's like I'm being judged by the way he looked at me. Roasted on a hot stove. I don't understand why so many women want to be his wife when his behavior is not beautiful.

"I see. Aside from you came from a different blood. I think I am also unblessed, since you are both back. A wall standing—"

"What! You mean I'm flat chested?!"  I asked annoyed. I even hugged myself.

But I am not!

"What else do you expect? Blessed? If that is the right term. But sorry, I don't see any, and I might not feel any."

I saw him snort and shake his head before turning away. I think he is going to leave and doesn't intend to let me go. Of all the abductors, he is the most contemptible!

Did he think he was also a blessing in disguise? What is wrong with my character that he thinks I am not a blessing to him? I guess all those who come close to me think of my personality as karma.

And I don't want to be left again. That's not fair anymore. I am the chosen one, and I think I should fight for it.

"Wait a minute." I stopped him from walking towards the door.

He really intends to leave!

He stopped and slightly looked at me from behind. He raised an eyebrow before speaking. His scary eyes are leading the way again.

"What? Speak. I have no time for sweet chit-chat. Spill it before I send you out and let you live in the nearest island," he uttered in his cold voice.

My eyes widened and I quickly ran the distance between the two of us.

He doesn't want to get married like that and he can exile me?!

"Just a moment!" I grabbed his arm and his gaze became sharper, "I'm easy to talk to. If you don't want to get married, it's okay for me to be single—"

"For you? Yes. But for my grandfather? Everything needs to be settled before this day ends. So it's better to throw you somewhere he can't find you."

He was about to turn around, but I blocked his way. I wanted to protest but was overcome by fear after his eyes stared.

I don't think I will lose my nervousness every time I look at his eyes!

"We can try. Maybe work it out," I insisted.

"Or, we can divorce after one year," I added.

I tried to come closer but his eyebrows were almost touching, so I stopped and bit my own tongue.

"It's a no, Darling," he said, referring to the marriage, "You don't even look appetizing—"

"I'm good in bed too!" I almost closed my eyes after shouting that.

Despite the fact that I know nothing about bed, I want to be his fiancée. Maybe when I'm his fiance, Mom and Dad will be ready to accept me. That will give me a complete family.

He fell silent and looked at me even more and didn't seem to believe it. I braced myself and decided on the plan in mind. Maybe he can change his mind.

I took a deep breath before rolling my eyes. What encouragement should I take?

"Uhm, just give me some brandy, or whiskey. As long as it's alcohol that will make me drunk. Come on, I'll prove it to you!" I still had the courage to look up and stare again at his eyes, covered with heat.

I could see his lips twitching and trying to stop himself from smiling or laughing. But he also took a step and headed to the cabinet. A wine that was unfamiliar to me was brought out. Just brown. He looked so smooth while carrying it in his rough hands.

"This is 70 percent alcohol content whis—"

I didn't finish what he had to say and just grabbed the wine from him.  I opened and wasted no time in drinking from the bottle. I almost cried because of the bitterness and heat in my throat.

After this, I won't drink alcohol anymore!

I slowly put it on the floor when I could barely swallow. I even wiped the drip on the side of my lips before looking at him with an arched eyebrow. His gaze darkened and his jaw tightened.

"I surely don't want a drunken wife," he declared.

As I saw how he shook his head and cringed, "Much more, a crazy wife. You are not qualified, Miss."

But I am no longer affected by any of his insults. Even though I was dizzy and overwhelmed with thirst, my full attention was only on him.

"But you want a satisfying wife, Aldo. And here I am." I grinned before approaching him.

He backed off once, but the second time he tried, I didn't let him. I willingly pulled on his neck and immediately kissed his lips deeply. No air was allowed to pass between the two of us.
