Chapter 33

I was in shock and unable to get off the chair when he was done with his story. I became ashamed of myself for ever thinking he was a monster.

I stood up from the chair I had been sitting in all this while and moved close to him. It was a little dark in the room except for the lamp that was giving off light. Looking at the scar on his chest, I could feel my blood boiling, and a tear escaped my eyes.

"Please don't cry," Axios said as he cupped my cheeks in his hand.

Every shred of fear was swept away as the tears flowed helplessly. It was one of the saddest stories I have ever heard, and for some reason, my heart was in pain. I caressed the scar on his chest as the tears continued flowing.

"Is it painful?" I asked him, staring into his eyes.

"Not anymore; would you stop crying, please? I can't stand seeing you cry," he whispered.

He gathered into his arms and I willingly went to him.
