Chapter 51. Company Party

"If it weren't for the kids wanting Miss Willmer to live here, I would never have let her set foot in apartment." Cade's voice sounded cold.

It wasn't the answer Laura wanted. It had nothing to do with it. But she didn't want to argue at the moment.

The kids put down their spoons almost simultaneously. Their faces looked annoyed. But they still stubbornly didn't want to talk to their father.

"Mike. Mika. You guys ate very little." Laura reprimanded helplessly. She noticed the two had only eaten a few spoons.

"I suddenly feel full," Mike said. The corner of his eye glanced fiercely at Cade.

The boy got out of his chair and left the dining table first.

"It's so stuffy in here anyway." Mika chimed in while fanning her face with her hands. She followed her brother away.

It was just an excuse, Laura knew. The woman shook her head sadly. She glanced at Cade who seemed unmoved and became unable to contain his anger.
