Chapter 5; An Unfamiliar Stranger

Dmitri switched on the lights after dropping her off on the bed.

He feared that she would be tormented by the darkness after the gruesome murder she had witnessed.

Tears were streaming down her cheeks and she said nothing neither did she adjust from where he had dropped her.

He noticed that she was beautiful. She was very very beautiful. Perhaps that was why the Don had made the decision of taking her as his contract bride, which was unlike him. He was known for his loathe and hate for women.

Even as she cried and tears fought for their way down her cheeks, her beauty still stood out.

He looked away from her fearing that desires of her might come creeping at him.

Her hair was messy with strands of hair all over her face. Must have been while she struggled with the soldiers he proclaimed within him.

She was a nobody to him, and he was a nobody too but somehow he found her continuous tears touching him to his core.

He put his hand into his pocket and brought out the handkerchief he had planned giving her earlier before he was interrupted.

She accepted it and wiped her tears with it.

He was himself surprised at his own actions because he did not want to have anything to do with the Don's contracted bride. She meant something to him and that was why he had desired her. He couldn't dare desire her too.

He turned to give her space, sensing that she was in her most vulnerable state at the moment.

He left the room and stood outside the door, waiting to see if she would call out to him.

Eleanorah was surprised by his act. He was the one that had argued with her not long ago about orders and his responsibilities and now he was leaving her alone.

Wasting no time to think about the consequences of what her actions might bring her, she immediately wiped her tears again with the handkerchief he had given her.

Opening the wardrobe filled to the brim with clothes, she started selecting all the scarves she could find in them.

Then she began to tie them together, strong enough as she could, trying to create a rope out of them.

Occasionally she would run over the window, throwing the length of it down to check where it could reach over the wall.

And then she'd go back and add more materials to it, checking back again and again.

She continued doing this until she heard the sound of footsteps.

Immediately, she rushed to the bed, switching off the bed lamp that sat on the table near her head.

"Signorina, I brought water for you to cook your temper" Dmitri went as he opened the door but noticed that the lights had been switched off.

He walked over to the side table the lamp sat on and dropped the covered glass of water he carried.

Turning to the darkness, he noticed the opened wardrobe but took nothing out of it, thinking that it had become so because Eleanorah wanted to switch clothes.

He saw her leg outside the blanket she had covered herself with and and went to bed side to adjust the blanket to cover her legs as well..

He saw that the black trousers she has on when she came was still on her.

"Perhaps she was too tired to change this too " he muttered to himself and then walked out to the room..

Believing him to be gone, Eleanorah came out of the baskets and continued to tie the scarves together.

Finishing and confirming that it could reach the floor from the window, she ran to the window and began tying an extreme end of the rope she had made to the window shield while throwing the other out of the window.

As she was about to climb, Dmitri opened the doors and flashed the light from the socket that was at the entrance of the Wall.

"Signorina!!!!!" He whispered at her, trying not to call the attention of the other Soldiers.

He held her and brought her down from the window she had wanted climbing out of.

"Let me go Dmitri" she began sobbing, "please just let me go"

"I'm sorry Signorina but I cannot let you go" he began saying,, calmly again and without emotions like he had done before.

" I cannot let you endanger your life, my life and that of your sister's, Signorina" he added, his last word touching her heart.

" If the Don catches you trying to run away, I am very sure he would stop all treatments being made for your sister and this would make her suffer in pain and die"

Eleanorah landed across his face as soon as the words came out of them.

" Are you trying to lecture me right now" she said, annoyed at what he had told her.

She had found him to be a familiar spirit to deal with, and she found slapping him becoming casual to her, even though they had no relationships that could warrant such.

She was doing them all with the title of the mafia boss' wife she was.

" Signorina, The Don has gone to Casablanca. You shouldn't run away nor put yourself in danger, you should enjoy the fortress before he returns"

" I honestly do not care anymore Dmitri. I just want to rub very far away. I don't care about any other thing again" she sobbed , still in his arms, regardless of the fact that she had slapt him.

" My Don, be hated colour. It reminds him of himself. Regardless of whoever it is that brought aby colorful things or made anywhere colorful, punishments awaited the person" he told her.

Eleanorah's eyes widened as they enlarged, wanting him to tell her more of the revelations but he did not.

Instead he took her up and returned her to the bed once again.

He retreated to the door again and stood, watching over her.

" Won't you go to sleep too" she inquired looking at him from the bed she was in.

" Signorina, my duty is to protect you"
