chapter 2

"Oh, my God! oh my God!! I had sex with a stranger, " Dari said, realising what had happened, "please tell me we used protection at least. "

" I don't think we did but don't worry, I'm clean I have no STD," Maxwell said while drying up his body, "listen I will be leaving now, you can order whatever you need, it will be added to my tab, meanwhile I have somewhere to be"

"I'm Dari, it's.....'

"Listen, Miss Dari, I don't think it's necessary knowing each other names. We might never meet each other again. Names are not necessarily at all," he said, cutting her short.

Dari was too dumbfounded to reply to him, she felt his rude behaviour was uncalled for, at that moment she just wanted to leave the room and go far away from the stranger, who she thinks is just a mean jerk.

She went ahead to pick up her clothes that were scattered around the room, she was embarrassed to find her clothes laying around, finally, she managed to pick up all her clothing, then walked to the bathroom to change into her clothes. dragging the bed sheet she use in covering up her body with her.

A few minutes later, she walked out of the bathroom to meet the room empty. the stranger must have left while she was changing in the bathroom.

This is the most reckless thing she has ever done in her entire life, spending the night with a stranger who turns out to be a total jerk, whose name she does not even know, "way to go, Dari, you sure know how to choose them" she muttered to herself.

Dari quickly put on her shoes and grabbed her purse. She took out her vanity set from her purse and looked around in search of a dressing mirror. For the first time since that morning, she take note of the room she was in.

The room was grand, ordinarily, she would never dream about entering such a luxurious hotel, the room was fit for a king, it was a fully furnished smart house, and she could tell that only the price of the dressing mirror can pay her rent for two years or more.

"What it would be like to be able to lodge in a place like this," she mused. " Keep dreaming, Dari," she said to herself, laughing out loud.

Dari finally saw the Mirror, she walked over and made sure her clothes and hair were in order.

When she was done she stood up to leave, she took one more glance at her reflection in the mirror, she wondered if there was any telltale sign, that this was a walk of shame, She has never had a walk of shame, but she knew this was a walk of shame.

"I mean what else will you call walking out of a hotel room filled with shame and thinking everyone knew what you did last night and is judging you, after having spent the night with a stranger," she thought to herself

If only Michael could see her now, he would bite his tongue off for calling her uptight.

Michael, her boyfriend of three years, had broken up with her five months ago because, according to Michael, she was becoming boring and their relationship too predictable and without any spark.

He had accused her of always having to plan every little thing she does, including their sex life, he told her she was never spontaneous and was too uptight, and being with her felt like just another day on a job, it was stressful and unsatisfying.

He told her beauty was wasted on the wrong person because she doesn't know how to just relax and have fun.

The words still stung even after five months, thinking about it now, Michael had been right about her, she was an overthinker, a planner, every single one of her decisions and actions always needs to be carefully thought about, the pros and cons carefully analyzed.

But who could blame her, growing up the way she did, with no stability, always moving around would turn anyone into a control freak, she was everything but uptight, of course, she could have fun, just not every time.

But being in a relationship with Michael, someone had to be the adult, the voice of reason, the leader, and Michael would rather party all night than be any of that.

Being with Michael she had felt more like a mother to him, than an actual girlfriend, always having to tell him what is right and what is wrong, motivating him to do something that will benefit him.

She found it ironic that Michael only realised she was uptight after he got a job and started earning more than she was, after years of living off her.

Her actions in the last twenty-four hours were more like something Michael would do, not her. She was the reasonable one.

Dari walked out of the hotel room into the hallway, she looked to the left and then to the right, not sure of which way to go, luckily for her she saw a lady dressed in a uniform, from her uniform she tell that she was a room service maid, Dari walked up to her.

"Excuse me, where is the way out?"

The lady looked up from the laundry cart she was pulling. She looked at Dari with a puzzled expression.

"What?" she asked

"I'm asking for the way out of here," Dari said. the maid looked at her and then at the room she had just walked out of. Dari wondered why. She had no time to ponder on the issue. She just wanted to be out of there.

"Walk down the hall, then take the right, then walk to the end. There is an elevator at the end," she said

"Thank you very much." Dari walked back the way she came, just as she was nearing the end of the hall. She looked behind her to find the Maid still looking at her.

She finally located the elevator, and she entered and took it down to the hotel lobby.

When she walked into the lobby she noticed that compared to how everyone was dressed she looked out of place, it seems this a place where one was dressed to kill, in million-dollar suits and dresses.

Compared to the women she saw in the lobby, who were looking put together and classy. When you fraction in her dishevelled hair and cheap dress and purse, she looked utterly mad.

Her out-of-place look earned her a few demeaning looks from the women and curious glances from the men.

To the women, her beauty was undeniable, but her dress was a reassurance that despite her beautiful and alluring look, she was still beneath them in social status.

The men saw her as a beauty in rags, they could see the beauty beneath her cheap clothing. To them, she was a damsel in distress, which awakened their natural male hunger.

Dari walked towards the exit of the hotel, despite her outward look of confidence, she was a complete wreck inside, she was fully aware of her surrounding, and the look she was getting, to her their look was accusatory, they seem to be saying ' "we know what you did last night" but though there was a war raging inside her, she still held her head up high as she walked out of the hotel.
