Chapter 20-let's go home

Natash's POV

The ward was a single room, and Perry was asleep. The two adults remained silent, creating a somewhat empty atmosphere. Jaclyn felt uncomfortable, sighed quietly, and left.

As the door closed, the tears I had been holding back finally fell.

Jaclyn·Dills returned half an hour later, holding a pizza box, which he placed on the bedside table.

He spoke with a lack of warmth, "Eat something. If you're sick, no one will take care of you."

I was taken aback and didn't lift my head to look at him.

Jaclyn·Dills sat on the bed, gently pressing Perry's forehead. It felt cool, with a hint of sweat.

He pulled out a fresh towel from the bag, washed it in the bathroom with hot water, wiped the sweat from the child's forehead, glanced at the wristwatch, took out a notebook from the side laptop bag, placed it on the nearby table, and began working.

After finishing his work, he turned his head slightly and noticed that a cup of hot water had appeared at his side at some point.
