I sat by Theron as he slept all night. The only time I had gotten up was to answer a call from Sera saying Naya was awake and well. At least one thing had gone right. My heart swelled at the news until I looked at my injured Alpha behind me. I didn’t tell Sera about Theron; I didn’t want to worry anyone. No one knew he of his state Except Rune and the cat. Even as Dani and Rune went out repeatedly to gather injured pack members to be healed, we kept everyone out of Kamari’s room. Soon enough, the Ostyn house became a safe house and makeshift hospital.

The cat came in around dawn to check-in. He checked the wound that had started healing and put more ointment on it before checking his heartbeat.

“How long has he been wheezing?” The cat asked me as he held the stethoscope to his chest.

“A little while. Why? Is it a bad sign?” I looked up at the cat to read his expression.
