"Good morning, Alva," he greeted me.

The sound of his voice echoed in my ear. I thought it would break my heart to hear his voice but that wasn't the case.

I shouldn't have trusted him, that is what I realized at that moment. If he could hurt me in this way and walk up to me as if nothing happened, then he never deserved my love.

I cried myself to sleep for a man who didn't have the right to affect me the way that I did. My thoughts ran back to the previous morning. The peaceful day that I had and how wonderful it was without him in my life.

Alex came into my life at the right moment. He made me realize that there was me before the jerk before me and there could be a better me after him.

I gazed at my ex, the tears in my eyes clearing. I straightened my back and mirrored the smile that he flashed at me. I closed the distance between us by stepping out of the elevator.
