Chapter 5 - The Thunder strike

Sarah

“Can’t you see it's cloudy? How can we let her go like that?” I heard my mom’s voice again. “Please let her stay the night?” My mother pleaded with him.

I knew his answer already, I didn't expect much from him, I picked up the money and the bag that contained my clothes. He would never listen to my mother’s pleas, he would never go back on his word.

He was going to keep his pride as the head of the elders of the land instead of keeping his daughter.

“No, I can’t go back on my word, it is only right for me to do that. What if this happened to an omega? It is only fair that I pass the right judgement even though she is my daughter.” he replied to my mom.

It was just as I thought, he wasn’t going to change his mind. I got up from the floor, gathering the strength in me.

“Fairness? Is this life even fair? Chasing my only daughter from me is fair, right? Big jokes on you!” My mom cried.

Listening to their conversation made me feel sick in my stomach, I regret disappointing them, I owe my mom a lot emotionally, I know she would not be the same after I leave.

I cleaned my tears as I walked away from the house, making up my mind that I would return as a strong woman.

My parents have no relatives in the neighbouring packs, there is no one I could run to for help. They were the only children that their parents had, it had been like that in their generations, they only had just one child each.

It must be one the reasons why my dad thought having twins was ominous and was hell bent on not accepting me. I wonder what he would have done to me if he knew the twins belonged to his sworn enemy.

He might have killed me, one time he had mentioned hooking me up with Stephen Whiskey, the Alpha's older brother. Stephen was a potential son-in-law for every family in our pack but he wasn't my love interest.

He was supposed to be Alpha in place of Brandon, my mate and my babies’ daddy but the former Alpha believed that the brother should duel for the position rather than earning it normally.

It was a popular contest in our pack, though I didn’t attend it, the stories about it flew around for a very long time that I knew it as if I was present at the contest

Brandon had cleverly won the fight and turned down the position of the Alpha but the former Alpha refused to crown Stephen as the next Alpha, insisting that he wasn’t strong enough.

Many elders, especially my dad, were against Brandon being the Alpha but none of them dared go against the Alpha’s wish. Brandon was named the next Alpha instead of the Stephen whom they adored so much.

After the former Alpha passed away, the elders of the pack and his older brother began to rule the land and turned him into a puppet Alpha that had to grant their wishes.

He had a terrible image for an Alpha, the members of the pack, said he loved to sleep around, he only won the duel by luck, he didn’t deserve to be their Alpha.

My dad was like the Alpha, if other packs wanted to see the Alpha over serious issues and cooperation, they spoke to him first then my dad would inform Stephen, if he gave the go ahead, my dad would then authorise the alpha to do it.

If Stephen refuses, no matter what Brandon says, the Elders would not give their blessings.

Maybe they were right after all, maybe I slept with the wrong brother now my life was in a mess,

Going to another pack as a regular wolf crossed my mind but I couldn’t go there.

News must have reached them that I have been cast out of the pack. Though I haven’t roamed around for a long time to be addressed as a rogue, it didn’t mean I would not be treated like a rogue if I went there.

No pack allowed rogues into their territory but the hate for them in our pack was the worst. Other packs allowed the rogues to come and sell knives, kitchen utensils to them because they were good at making stuff like that.

Wolves from our pack didn’t care much about that, they rather buy all those things from the neighbouring packs that buy from the rogues that sell it directly. They loathed the rogues that much.

I have hung out with rogues a number of times, they were lovable and kind people, going to them for refuge would only prove my father and the members of our pack right.

I would survive on my own and come back with my kids to show this town that they will regret throwing me out.

Thick darkness covered the sky, water droplets fell on my skin as I walked towards the border of our pack. As the water touched my bruised skin, it burned me so badly.

It was too late to head back home for shelter so I started running fast in my human form. I doubted that my wolf would be able to do as much as I could in my human form.

The rain got heavier as I ran through the woods, so I decided to increase my pace. It was hard for me to catch my breath but I didn’t stop running.

I found a shady tree then I decided to climb on it and wait till the rain stopped. I was going to rest a bit too.

While I crawled up, a blinding lightning struck then a deafening thunder followed it, the current from the thunder ran through my body then I fell down on the floor, and lost consciousness.
