Chapter Two

Roselyn

He rarely showed emotions when they weren't alone. She was certain he was about to announce her verdict. She was nervous as hell, her palms were sweating, and the closeness of his built muscular body kept the happy side of her on display.

He closed the door softly and walked around the car. She saw him walking in a regal way. He was always dangerous, but so handsome. He settled behind the wheel and put on the seatbelt. His gaze turned to her as she was caught looking at him.

"It's locked," She told him with a smile, gesturing at the seatbelt.

He caressed the side of her face, "Hm," His hand returned to the steering wheel.

"Where are we going?" She placed her hands in her lap, looking at him directly. He glanced at her, sniveling his neck, "I can look at you whenever I want and how long I want." She said before he could ask her to straighten in the passenger seat.

He laughed, throwing his head back against the headrest, "I'm not complaining," He said with a hearty smile. He ignited the car and pulled out of the parking lot of the hospital.

She was always careful of overstepping, it didn't bother her when her husband was around. Her eyelashes fluttered, "Where are we going?" She repeated and felt the storm of emotions, love at the top of all.

He held her hand, twined his fingers with her, and gently laid their hands over his thigh. His thumb began to stroke the back of her hand, "I wanna show you something." He said, eyes fixed on the road.

"Something?" She asked with big eyes.

'Surprise? Can be but I'm not certain. His body language says different things. If I'm starting to read him correctly.'

"You're going to obey me, Rose." Still calmly, he said, no expression was on display.

Her eyes were roaming out of the window of the driver's side. He wasn't driving so fast. The sight wasn't blurred out of the window.

She giggled, grabbing his attention, "You have nothing to blackmail me, Liam." She covered her mouth with her free hand.

He lifted his twined hands and dropped a kiss on the back of her hand. She blushed, her pink cheeks radiant, she dipped her head in shyness as the stroking of his thumb warmed her skin.

"Do you wanna challenge me?" He asked with a wicked smile. His emerald gaze swiped over her face.

Before she could assume anything he signed at the water bottle with the tilt of his head, "What are you going to do?" Fear was noticeable in her soft voice.

He smiled, "We're going to talk. That's all." He squeezed her hand.

"Liam!" Her voice was high-pitched, "Don't scare me.." She closed her eyes, breathing in and out. She started to pull her hand away in annoyance.

He held her hand strongly but it wasn't painful, "You remember our talk before adopting Selena and Cody." He asked, his voice low and holding no feeling.

He wasn't allowing her to go away. She stopped struggling, "Yes," She nodded, looking down at their hands, "Is baby okay? I couldn't talk to the doctor after the checkup," Fear clung to her. Her hand crawled over her stomach in a protective way.

"Baby is fine," He said with a little frown.

She forced the tears back that insisted on appearing and spilled. His wrath was the last thing she wanted to face and endure during her pregnancy.

"Then?" She managed through her choked throat. The strap of her dress slipped off her shoulder.

He pulled over the car in front of an unfamiliar cottage. Unbuckling, he took off the seatbelt and placed the strap of her dress. His eyes narrowed as he looked deep in her eyes. She lowered her eyes to hide the unshed tears.

"You can hide nothing from me, Rose." He said, stepping out of the car. He closed the door softly. She was already scared, he didn't want to startle her. He was going to be extra careful with her.

She wiped her eyes immediately when his back was on her. He opened the door and held her hand leaning forward.

"It's not something bad," She asked as he led her to the door of the cottage.

A soft smile appeared on her face, seeing various kinds of flowers.

"Nothing is bad," Slowing his pace, he curled his arm around her shoulder, hugging her to his side. He kissed her head, "Relax," His voice was soothing, "Are you comfortable?" He asked.

"Yes," She wanted to run ahead, touch the petals of flowers and smell them. Liam's grip was holding her back, "Then, what's it?" She thought and her eyes widened gleefully, "Are we having two babies? " Her voice was full of excitement.

"No," He shook his head, laughing, and turned away from the garden.

Through the door, they entered the living room. They walked over to the couch, " How did you find such a beautiful place?" She asked, drifting her gaze around. She rubbed her forehead recalling his question, "Yes, I remember. You promised me that Selena and Cody will be part of our family but not underworld as I asked you to."

He leaned forward, "You remember your promise?" He asked.

She sucked in a deep breath, "It's a boy." Her arm curled around her stomach.

"Heir of my throne," Liam said.

She didn't utter a word as they had already talked on this topic. An unnecessary altercation wasn't her intention. She nodded her head.

'He is destined to be part of his world. Liam would have given me a choice if he wants. He won't force me but his determination frightens me.'

"Why are we here?" She asked, looking around. The wallpaper was classic on the walls, wooden furniture was of dark color.

"Rose, " He softly placed his hand over her cheek. Looking at him, she smiled and hugged him, "We have to hide the gender of the baby for your safety." He said, curling his arms around her.

Resting her chin over his strong chest, she nodded her head, "What are we going to say?" She asked, "I'm not pregnant? My stomach is growing." She told him, wondering, mulling over his words, "Gender? Are we telling all? It's a girl!"

He smiled at her, brushing the hair away from her face, "It's a girl, yes."

"Our families?" She asked, drumming her fingers over his chest, impatiently. She wanted to end the talk.

"They'll know the truth." He ran his fingers through her silky long hair, "Should I order something?" He asked.

"Can we eat here?" She asked, excitedly. Because of security reasons, Liam never allowed her to eat and drink out of the house.

     "Hm," He nodded.

"I want chocolate cake, then sweet corn, and something salty then." She demanded gleefully.

"Something salty, han?" He took out his phone and tapped his thumb multiple times. He hoisted the phone up to his ear, "Chocolate cake, sweet corn, " A paused, "Yeah, hm." He disconnected the call and placed the phone aside on the coffee table.

"You forget something salty," She pretended to sprinkle something rubbing her fingers and thumb.

One side of his mouth curved upward, "I'll cook for you," He said.

"You'll cook! Reaching home?" She asked, jaw-dropping in shock.

A small smile stretched across his face, "Hm," He kissed the side of her head.

Her lips curled up, but her mind was stuck in the conversation. She couldn't back off of her words. For Selena and Cody, she made the words to him.

His eyebrows pulled together, deepening the crease on his forehead. She didn't want to lie. She wrapped her arm around his biceps and tugged him forward.

She was aware of his physical strength, still, he walked along with her, curling his strong hand around her joined hands over his arm.

Looking away, she took a shuddery breath. She made an attempt trying to hide her emotions. She closed her eyes, and a deep inhale brought her his musky scent, filling her nostrils.

Her eyes snapped and her head jerked at him. when she felt the pressure of his palm on the back of her hand, "I gave you a choice. No use now," He murmured.

Whether she wanted it or not, she had to accept it with a smile or tears. Nothing was going to change his mind. She opened her mouth. His impassive gaze cut through her. It brought an abrupt end to their conversation.

She lifted her lashes, and a smile twisted over her lips. She was grateful the moment she discovered her pregnancy. She tiptoed on her heels and kissed his cheek. Heat crawled up her neck. She looked away immediately, hiding the blush that crawled over her face. It was a beautiful thing to be found in life. She wanted to seize the moment.

He moved to the back door. She blinked at him in confusion. She saw Danny with guards at the door. He held the door open at their sight. Their heads were bowed.

He slithered his arm out of the rings of her hold. Her heart began to run on the treadmill. His arm came around her waist protectively. The concern over her face disappeared.

His cold gaze drifted around, over his guards. They mostly scared her. His dark gaze said the unspoken words.

Her gaze stopped on the guard who was holding the door. He was taller than Liam, too, his hulking form looking like something out of a ghost movie.

Liam's fingers dug softly, his gaze sending a warning her way. She couldn't hold the chuckle. He raised his eyebrows, "Are you teasing me? Drop it, Or you want me to kill them," He gritted his teeth.

She swallowed hard as she glanced at him in fright, "Y...yo...u.. won't do this." She said with shocked, big eyes.

"Wanna try, babe?" He muttered with a wicked smile. He held the door open for her.

His gaze was intense on her. A shiver worked down her spine. She stepped forward and got in the car. She twisted her hands in her lap and watched him through the corners of her eyes.

He strode around the car. His expression was cold like usual. He opened the door and got behind the wheel.

Startling, she jerked back when he inclined closer. He halted, his expression softened when his gaze fell on her. He buckled the seatbelt, his knuckles brushed her shoulder.

"Shouldn't you trust me, Liam? We're going to have our baby," She muttered under fear.

"I trust you. But I don't trust people around you." He said, straightening his back, he turned the keys. He didn't forget to fix her with his gaze.

It was a big thing that he trusted her. He was one of some rare people who didn't trust their own shadow.

"You can't walk around like a hulk." She said, trying to push the anger away. He wouldn't hurt her she knew this.

He gripped her hand and laid his lips softly on the back of her hand, "Hulk or Seething in anger. You're safe with me. You both!" He laid another kiss.

Her heart fluttered, and her smile lightened her gaze on him.

He flashed a smile her way and placed her hand over his thigh, and enclosed it with his hand. She glanced at him, he was looking extraordinarily handsome! She was glancing at him without the fear of catching.

Liam flashed a grin her way. She forced her gaze away blushing, "I didn't inform mom and Momma. They must be finding me," She said, suddenly remembering her unannounced walk out of the hospital.

He nodded. She didn't want to risk bringing out the worst of him, "I wasn't checking him out," She said, chewing the corner of her lip.

    He chuckled, "My soldiers

frightened you," He said clearly under his breath.

     "Yes, " She grumbled.
