CHAPTER TEN

SALLY

I kept rolling my eyes as we drove to the hotel in Alex's limousine.

A guard was seated in front with the driver, but the back seat was a world of its own. Whatever we did there, the driver and guard would not hear us.

We were both quiet all through the ride. As usual, Alex's eyes were fixed on his phone. I stole glances at him and could not stop admiting how charming he was.

I wondered why he would not just act right.

His phone soon began to ring. I stared at the screen and saw James's name displayed on the screen. He picked it up and placed the phone close to his ear.

"You were supposed to send five hundred dollars today, Alex. I'm pretty sure you didn't forget that."

Alex turned to me with a nervous look before he quickly pulled the phone from his ear and turned off the speaker.

He placed it back beside his ear and cleared his throat before answering.
