Nine.

Charlie’s POV

I’m not even sure what made me do it, the sudden urge to run away from it all. Maybe it was the news that I was part vampire, or the fact that Alpha Zach is clearly in love with me but as I grab my suitcase, I purposely hit him with it as I walk by and go to his office. As much as I wanted to go home, right now I didn’t want to be alone.

Sinking down onto the rug, the heat from the fire warms my skin, Kayden had been right about it being much colder here and as much as I didn’t want to admit it, I didn’t have the right clothes for this weather.

As I sit staring into the fire, a blanket is draped over my shoulders and when I look up I find Alpha Zach smiling at me, he doesn't speak and heads to his desk, concentrating on the paperwork that was piled high.

Every so often I would steal a glance at him, the light of the fire gave him an ominous look but in the daylight he looked so different, his eyes oddly dark but
