SCARLETT

How many times had it been already?

I woke up in the same bed and stared at the same ceiling for five minutes straight. but this time, my memories were not hazy. I was well aware of what had happened before I lost consciousness.

He marked me. I was too weak to bear the force of the mark and fainted.

It was good this way. I couldn’t see him doing this to me.

Slowly, I touched my neck and found a bump there. My fingers trembled, running over the mark which still ached.

To my surprise, tears didn’t well into my eyes. I didn’t even feel anything about it. It was like, all the anger, the hurt, and the pain had been sucked out of my mind. And I was in a numb state.

Finding myself too cold, I got up and walked toward the room. With a single pull at the door knob, it opened with ease.

I stood there, in the doorway, wondering what I wanted to think about this freedom right now. He didn’t even need to lock me in a room anymore. He would know where I was, all the time. And he wo
