Chapter 6: Crying for the moon

The couples counseling started off nicely Cody and Nina attended it religiously and especially Cody showed a lot of commitment. Nina felt there was still more to do to save her turbulent marriage.

“This marriage is unstable you know why?” She asked Amaya, her best friend who doubled as her PI.

“Why?” Amaya said heaping her plate with a lot of puff pastry.

“We’re too many in it, his mum, my mum, his sisters… only our fathers stay out of our business” She complained.

“So kick them out, simple, what’s so hard about that” Amaya said trying to focus on her lunch.

“I can kick my mum out, but what about him? He refuses to grow up” Nina said.

“Make him, it shouldn’t be hard Cody obeys you” Amaya enlightened her.

“He won’t cut off his family for me, and I won’t ask him to, else he’s going to see me in a very bad light” Nina analyzed.

“So what are you going to do?”

“I want a normal family like everyone else, where we don’t always talk about business, I want us to be close and be friends do you get me? I want Cody to be my friend, maybe we might have common interests or something” Nina tried to express her wishes to Amaya who only stared at her in disbelief.

“Girl, you know he’s a busy man right? He can’t spend all day with you” Amaya reminded her.

“Cody may be busy, but when he has free time he won’t spend it with me, it’s because the friendship isn’t there, we were too polite and careful with each other we forgot to be friends” Nina explained.

“So do you have a plan on how to achieve your “normal” family?” Amaya asked her, to which she smiled in response.

“You bet I do”

Cody had gone to see to see Rosa to cool off his head after a very hectic work schedule but Rosa being Rosa was adding up to his headache. She was making absurd demands for someone who knew he was married, it was time to let her go. He walked into the office only to meet his headache smiling at him.

“How did you get in here?” He asked in an irritated mood.

“You gave me the code remember?”

“Thank you for reminding me, I’ll change it after today” Cody said and went to take his seat.

“You’re not mad at me are you?” Rosa asked with a smirk on her face.

“My wife knows not to interrupt me at work, that’s why I respect her… I think you plan on getting me fired” Cody said coldly.

“Are you trying to say you don’t respect me Mr. Whyte?” Rosa asked like a innocent child.

“I used to… gradually I’m losing all that, congratulations”

She was not about to lose him, she had put two and two together and had realized he might be an heir to the company he worked for. She was catching on that he wasn’t a common employee like he was pretending to be. She seductively sat on his desk and smiled in a naughty way. By the time they both knew it clothes were flying everywhere and they were struggling to lock the door. After a heated 7 minute pleasure, Cody slumped back into his seat breath a sigh of relief. He watched as Rosa got dressed and smiled.

“Are we meeting this weekend?” She asked and started to display a naughty smile again. Cody shook his head.

“No, we’re over Rosa, let’s not see each other again.

“What the hell?” Rosa slammed her fist on the desk.

“You think you can use and dump me?”

“That’s the shit I hate to hear… we used each other Rosa, if you think doing all we’ve done is me using you then we really shouldn’t be together” he marches to the door and opens it up for her “see yourself out Rosa”

“You’ll surely pay for this Cody” she said and gracefully walked out.

The maid servant served some tea on Nina’s table. Nina smiled and looked up at her. She was a young lady in her early twenties. She cast her mind back to when Cody looked admiringly at the maid servants in his mother’s house. What if he was doing same here, she couldn’t take such chances.

“What’s your name little miss?” Nina asked

“I’m Louisa, ma’am”

“Louisa can you do me a favor?” Nina asked.

“Yes ma’am”

“From now onwards I want you and all other female maid servants to leave this house, you can come in and work when the husband and I are not home” she announced.

“But ma’am we…” she was about to protest.

“If you have issues you can resign” she informed her.

“Ma’am how do we know you and the master are not home then if we leave?” She asked totally confused.

“You should be used to our schedule by now, but if you’re not you can find out from Seth, he’ll be in charge of all updates” Nina smiled at her. The maid nodded in agreement and excused herself from the parlor.

That night when Cody came home he craved for a pie and some strawberry milkshake to celebrate his freedom from the overbearing and manipulative Rosa. He sat downstairs for about 15 minutes and no maidservant was in sight. No one answered when he called. He finally went searching for Seth. When he finally found him at the pool doing some cleaning he couldn’t help but flare up.

“Where are all the maidservants Seth?”

“The wife asked them to leave didn’t she inform you?”

“No she didn’t, why would she kick them out on a day I want pie!” He yelled and stormed inside.

Nina met him at the corridor.

“Nina what did the maids do? Why did you throw them out?” He asked exasperated.

“Calm down, we can always order a pie no need to be angry” Nina tried to comfort him.

“I don’t want to order anything, I want homemade pie, the one Rosario makes for me!” Cody demanded.

“Fine Cody, how about I make you a pie?” She suggested.

“You can cook?”

Nina nodded.

“Okay sure”

Nina headed in feeling accomplished, she imagined her husband walking and seeing her bake, he’d fall deeper in love and then join her. Soon they’d be doing stuff together and their bond would grow stronger and they’d have children and be one big happy family. These thoughts brought smiles to her face but reality was waiting for her in the kitchen.
