Ep 2: In Prison

The Next Day

Thwack!

All the photos were thrown on the glass table annoyedly, and the woman in her mid-forty looked dreadful.

She bent down to collect them when a sharp male voice spoke up in a stuffy tone of voice.

"I said it already, do not send me photos of women. I will choose my bride myself."

Everybody present there stared at each other for a moment before steadying themselves.

A woman in her late fifties moved forward and announced in a gentle tone, "We know that you don't want us to find one for you. But so far you haven't shown us your girlfriend's photo. How can we know that you have a girlfriend? Xay."

In the Bryant family, everyone called him 'Xay.'

Xavier looked annoyed as he started loosening his neckties. He was so fed up.

"You know your grandpa will turn seventy this week. He wants to see you getting married before his birthday." The old woman heaved a sigh.

That was Xavier Bryant. Even his family members would think twice before saying something. Nobody wanted to make him disgruntled.

Xavier ran his slender fingers over his forehead and sought. "I know that, granny."

"Then why are you not introducing your girlfriend to us?"

This time his mother, Lana, uttered so. She also wanted her son to get married but it was all Xavier's choice.

"..."

Seeing him not uttering any more words, Lana sat on the couch next to her mother-in-law and mumbled in a pessimistic tone. "All of us just want to see you get married to a fine woman and have kids. Is that too much we are asking for? Huh…"

Jacob, who was observing everything from yards away kept staring at Xavier.

He knew soon enough his boss would burst out in wrath. He seriously has less tolerance.

When everybody was splatting and splitting, unexpectedly Xavier stood up. His gaze was cold and his face showed no hint of emotions, none could tell whether he was angry or fine and everybody went into a shocked state.

Maybe he was going to say something soon.

"Fine. Set the date, I am getting married."

With those words, the topic came to an end. Xavier left with Jacob following him behind when all the family members were very happy.

It has been a long time since they had been pestering him to get married.

Though he was almost 25, he had responsibilities and many more, his family wanted him to get married and especially his grandfather.

All the prisoners' chit-chatting succeeded in getting her attention. That was so hella chaotic yet Amyra was more observant of the officers.

She still hoped someone would get her out of there, someone would take her to see her parents but since last night, she stayed in the cell.

She couldn't sleep, didn't get to eat but kept looking at the people who looked weirdly at her. As if she was some kind of weirdos.

"Please, someone get me out of here. I want to see my parents, please… Is there anybody? Can anyone hear me? Hello?"

She cried out at the top of her lungs but still, the officers remained unchanged.

Sigh!

Suddenly, all the prisoners unexpectedly started striding towards her. Amyra was already cornered in the penitentiary; she had nowhere to go anymore.

"Just look at her. I have heard she killed her parents using a knife, and she stabbed them so brutally that it left their faces ruined enough to become unrecognisable. Well, her face doesn't look like she can do that. B*tch! She killed her parents!"

They started giggling at her.

"What are you doing? Stay away…" Even the look of them was enough to scare Amyra and now they were cornering her.

Unexpectedly a woman threw a chair at her all of a sudden. It was about to hit her but she sneaked it.

"You murderer! I will teach you a lesson. We can be sinners but we don't go with killing our parents. That's sh*tty! Killing your parents, let's see what you can do now…."

Abruptly another woman pulled her hair when the other one dragged her upward. Amyra was getting dragged towards the door without any mercy.

She could see all the prisoners were on one side. 'What are they going to do with me?' She looked frightened.

"B*tch! You get this!" When a woman just pushed her away and she fell on the floor, she stared at the officers. None of them seemed to care as if they knew it would happen anyway.

Amyra real quick understood that just like she saw in the movies things were f*cked up here. She could only save herself and not depend on anyone.

A woman started throwing water at her, some said bad things to her. All the women started encompassing her. Petrified, Amyra stood up and ran towards the door.

"Officer, they are bullying me. Please help."

"Hahaha. Help… I am the boss here, nobody will help you. You murderer!"

The woman snickered as if the laughter of the devils. As Amyra could see through what she was gonna face next, Amyra no longer looked for the officer's help.

Just when the woman was about to hit her she evaded it again.

"B*tch! You think you can escape huh? Guys, hold her up." As per the woman's order, suddenly the other people started running to hold her.

Amyra looked around and voiced, "Stop there or I will not be kind."

"What did she say? She said she won't be kind?"

"Wahahahaha."

"Yeah, heard so?"

"She thinks she is the goddess here. Let me teach you a lesson, b*tch!"

The woman ran towards Amyra. Just when she was about to whack her, Amyra shocked everyone. She grabbed the woman's hand and almost broke her wrist.

Then she kicked two women and went for the next one. They thought she was beating them badly as if she was squeezing out all her anger on them.

"She… what's wrong with all of you, go and hold her. I will…"

Amyra this time punched the woman, her cheeks started burning, and she felt pain.

Everybody was looking fearful of her now. They didn't dare to go to Amyra, no matter what she was saying.

Embarrassed, the woman who called herself the boss ran towards Amyra but Amyra blew her off with her head and the woman fell to the ground.

Nobody expected to get beaten up by her like that.

Surely the news said that Amyra Cassidy was like a spring-blooming sprout, virtuous and kind. She could fight this well? Nobody knew nor they could think of. As if some ghosts got in her.

"She is a little girl! She can't defeat us. Get her…"

"I'm really in a bad mood. So if any of you do not want to get admitted to the hospital, then you better stop messing with me."

Her voice sounded significant and stiff as ever. No, how could they go ahead seeing how angered she was?

Ring! Ring!

The next moment one of the officers quickly ran there. Everybody ran away except her. The door was opened and the officer strolled towards her.

"What's going on here?"

Amyra remained silent, she had no interest in replying to her. As the police officer saw her remain voiceless, she looked at the prisoners.

She could tell that they got beaten up today unlike other times when they bullies certain people all together.

True to say… the officer was impressed.

Amyra has gone back to her place after the officer left without saying anything. She sat at some corner when the rest didn't utter a single word but stared at her quietly.

'Won't anyone save me? Will I not be able to find out who killed my parents? Please, God give me a chance. Once I am out, I will punish those evils with my own hands...'
