Ashley's eyes widened in astonishment. She held her forehead in anguish. 'I misplaced it!'She just realized that she hadn't been checking on her mobile phone since she put Anton's name on the blacklist. Perhaps because of his constant calls during those times, checking her mobile phone occasionally has become her habit. After ending the matters between them, she lost interest in even checking on her phone. She even forgot where she had placed it as she was busy cleaning her newly rented unit. The only things she had with her when she left earlier were her car keys and her wallet, loaded with bank cards to pay for her purchases. Ashley pursed her lips and thought. 'When did I begin to neglect the most important matter because of him? What was wrong with me?' It suddenly dawned on her that she seemed to have returned to the past where they had started. Anton cast a side glance at her. He noticed that she was staring at his hand in a daze for a long time thus he nudged her mildly.
Kyle was surprised. He didn't expect that Megan, whom he had grown to be the most cold-hearted woman of a mother would easily hand him over the most confidential data she had. As far as he could remember, she solely had access to this data, and never had she let anyone get their hands on it. But why was she handing it over to him so easily? Wasn't she aware of what he's been up to all these years? Kyle was helping Ash produce the antidote to the drug she tried to develop throughout these years and it was progressing but he wasn't able to perfect it. The effect of his formula only lasted for a couple of days which is why Ashley had to go back and forth to find him for another shot. She had written this schedule in her personal calendar in her office to ensure she would never miss any of the dates. He stared at her retreating figure suspiciously, trying to comprehend exactly what she was up to.If Megan was up to no good then she was probably changing her tricks to manipulate the two o
Ashley stared at the piece of paper laid on the table in front of her, weighing the words written thoughtfully. Across her is Anton Stanford whose eyes remained cold and emotionless while studying her face. For a moment, there was a brief silence between them, and both seemingly calculating. Anton's lips curved, forming a cold smile as he began to speak. "Don't you know how much I hate you?" Ashley looked up and stared at him with the same expression. "You don't have to tell me. We both feel the same." BANG! The table produced a rattled sound as Anton slammed his fist hard on the table, furious. "You even have the guts to hate me after taking my woman's life?! How dare you!" Ashley blinked in confusion after taking every word into her mind. "You can't stand the sight of me, I got that but what was that piece of paper mean? It clearly states that you want me to stay by your side not to mention you're demanding that I should be in charge of everything including your daily lif
The next day, Ashley began to work at STANFORD Company.Anton indeed put her by his side as his assistant though he has already one, ignoring the questionable look given by his employees.Ashley didn't mind it either wherever he want her to be as long as she was able to carry on that promise. She was willing to sacrifice a year of her life for that no matter how hard for her.The days she spent with him became tough and rough. There's no single hour that he was calm while facing her. His voice always echoed in every wall of his office causing a stir on the outside but that wasn't enough to make her chicken out. He frequently scolds, humiliates, and even embarrasses her in front of everyone but she didn't flinch nor budge. Nothing matters to her as long as she was able to pay off what she owed him.Her life in the office became a hot topic of gossip causing her name to get tarnished and she was tagged as a "shameless bitch" for sticking around her boss. A few urged her to resign but s
Anton was reluctant to join his family on a sudden trip. It was abrupt and he didn't even have the slightest idea as to where they are heading. Furthermore, his mind was full of that woman, thinking that she might've been drunk the whole night and the next possible events was unimaginable for him. There was this slight pinch that makes him feel irritated as he thought that she might have hooked up with that guy! However, he shook his head and thought. 'She's not here and her life is none of my business!'As the plane landed, Anton lazily went out after the elders. His usual exhausted appearance was then replaced by excitement when he saw, none other than his best friend standing while waiting for them.Terrence grinned at him as he glided down the iron stairs."How's the flight?"He asked him but he only received a death glare from Anton."Up until now, you didn't even tell me why you have to be here on this little island! What the hell are you doing here when you have a company to man
The weekend ended fast and now it's Monday, Ashley's most dreadful day of the week since she joined the company."Good morning, Mr. Stanford."Ashley greeted professionally as she entered the office, opening her tab to check her boss' schedules for the whole day.Anton inquired while looking at her, "Did you enjoy yourself?"Her fingers halted from scrolling on the tab screen as she spoke. "What do you mean, Mr. Stanford?""You know what I mean! Don't play dumb!" He snapped at her irritably.Ashley took a deep breath and braced herself for his anger. "I'm sorry, but I don't understand. Could you please be more specific?""Huh!" Anton scoffed. "You could've told me about my sister to lessen my pain but you..." "I can't reveal that information, it's not my place to do so," she replied professionally.Upon hearing Athena's account of the events that transpired on the island, Anton reflected on his actions toward the woman. He experienced a mixture of shame and anger for being kept in th
Her phone inside her pocket vibrated but she didn't have much time to pay attention to it.The pain was too immense for her to bear and she could hardly endure it.The cab stopped outside a small clinic after a few minutes and Ashley scrambled to get in after paying the driver."Klein!" She shouted, breathing heavily. "I need your help!"A man similar to her age ran out of his little office, startled."What the hell?! What's wrong with you?"She stared at him with a contorting face.Seconds later, Klein cursed under his breath."You're in trouble! You forgot to take your shot?!" He hissed as he quickly assisted her toward his office, letting her sit on the sofa. "You've become more and more careless, Ash! What's happening to you?!" He nagged at her while searching for the special syringe inside his drawers which he prepared for her at times like this."I was too swarmed with work these days." She mumbled in a low voice."Lay down!" He commanded and she followed. She felt the needle pe
"What happened?!" Ashley asked Wella as soon as she arrived. She first noticed her looking pale, standing outside a certain door, walking back and forth anxiously which made her think that perhaps the latter made a huge error that might affect the partnership of both companies. "Uh, uhm..." Wella stammered looking utterly nervous. "Mr. Hall said that he..." "Wella, calm down first," Ashley instructed as she noticed the latter was having trouble forming her words. "Breath in, breathe out." The latter did as she told and after a few seconds of regaining her composure, she finally uttered hesitantly. "Mr. Hall refused to sign the contract and insisted to meet you. I'm sorry..." Ashley frowned nearing that. "What?" "Mr. Hall wants to meet you and I don't know why he requested such a thing," Wella repeated albeit calculatingly. "What should we do? Mr. Stanford would definitely..." "I'll meet him," Ashley replied without hesitation which put Wella's heart at ease. "Where is he?" She
