Chapter 5 - Isis

I honestly don’t remember anything about the movie we went to see. We spent most of the movie kissing. I’m not sure if I should be thankful or annoyed about the armrest between our seats. ‘Annoyed.’ Bastet scoffed as we waved goodbye to Mikali and Annai in the parking lot.

“Did you enjoy the movie?” Kurt asked with a smirk on his lips that were still a little puffy from our kissing. “I don’t know. Didn’t exactly watch it. Someone wouldn’t let me.” I shrugged, sliding into the car.

“Was Bastet not letting you watch the movie?” Kurt feigned innocence with that goofy smile on his face. I laughed, shaking my head at him.

“Well, she’s part of it. She did keep distracting me from the movie, suggesting I test my strength to rip that middle armrest out.” I sighed.

“Our wolves are definitely mates because Godric was thinking the same thing.” Kurt winked. I laughed. This man is just too adorable.

I wish I knew his secret to always being so happy. I know what his life has been like, yet he’s always smiling.

I idolized his cheery disposition even before we met in person. It became one of the things I loved about him.

“Look, I'm sorry. I promise next date night we will do something that doesn’t end up with us making out the whole time.” he promised.

“I’m not complaining. Though maybe next time, if you take me to a movie, pick one I’ve either seen or wasn’t interested in so I don’t feel like I missed out.” I suggested.

“Good plan. Though I think next time we will just go out for dinner. There’s plenty of great places to eat around here.” Kurt nodded.

“I’d like that.” I smiled, reaching over to hold his hand as we drove back to his apartment in Mount Hood. ‘Our apartment. You need to stop thinking about it like we’re a guest. We live with him. It’s our home too.’ Bastet sighed.

I know she’s right. And Kurt has made it very clear he wants it to be our home. I just keep, I don’t know, waiting for the other shoe to drop. For the next thing to go wrong. Which given our run-in with Noya, it’s already starting.

‘Noya is a boil on society, and we are going to do the world a favor by lancing her right through the heart.’ Bastet growled. She was still pissed that the rogue had suggested Kurt take her as a chosen mate. ‘You’re still pissed too. Don’t pretend.’ Bastet scoffed.

‘Yes, of course, I’m still angry. I rolled my eyes. I trust Kurt and know he obviously wouldn’t take her up on the offer. I’m his mate, and he isn’t going to just leave me. But there’s not much I can do about it at the moment.’

‘You know the best way to shut down her challenge.’ Bastet arched a brow at me. ‘Fight her?’ I furrowed my brow.

‘Well, yes, there is that. And we will have to fight Noya eventually. She wants what our mate’s rightful role is. That cannot be allowed. It is Kurt and our duty to take control of those rogues and get them in line. We need to restore the Silverclaw name.’ Bastet went into her tangent.

She is very gung ho about Kurt claiming his birthright and becoming an Alpha. I suppose I shouldn’t blame her since she was born to be a Luna as his mate. ‘

We were born to be a Luna. But nonetheless. The best way to prevent anyone having the idiotic idea of forcefully taking our mate is to complete the bond.’ Bastet gave me that stern look.

I frowned because I knew she was right. I know she’s ready for us to mate with Kurt. I’m sure Kurt and Godric are both more than ready. I’m the one hold-out in this relationship. It isn’t that I don’t want to. I mean, have you seen Kurt? He’s gorgeous.

He’s six feet of wavy chestnut hair, chiseled good looks with a jawline and chin that would make Henry Cavill jealous, those dark eyes with their ever-present glint of mischief, and the body of an Olympic swimmer with his broad shoulders toned lean physique with defined muscles. And then there’s that scar on his chest that adds a dangerous edge to his torso.

‘Our mate is yummy. And you’ve not even gotten to his best feature.’ Bastet licked her lips. ‘His best feature? I thought that was his eyes. I love his eyes.’ I sighed.

‘No, I’m talking about the massive cock he’s packing in those jeans.’ And just to emphasize her point, Bastet brought up the memory of him standing in the living room naked because I unintentionally pulled his towel off.

“You alright over there? Do I want to know what you and Bastet have been discussing this whole time?” Kurt’s voice pulled me out of the memory. “I... I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be fine?” I asked my voice, squeaking a little at being caught thinking of him naked.

“Because you’re turning as red as a tomato.” Kurt snickered. I groaned. Of course, I was blushing. “We… we were discussing how to handle Noya.” I tried to explain. Kurt arched an eyebrow, a look clearly saying he didn’t believe me.

“Right. And you are blushing because of Noya?” he questioned. “Well, Bastet was explaining one way to ensure that Noya couldn’t try to force you into being her mate.” I explained, growling a little because the very thought of it pisses me off.

“Calming breaths, Goddess. We both know it will never happen. Outside of her forcefully marking me, she can’t make me be her mate. And even then, you marking me would override that because a true bond is always stronger than a chosen one.” Kurt soothed me, gently squeezing my hand.

I nodded, taking three calming breaths getting Bastet back in check before speaking. “I know. And that’s why Bastet wants us to complete the bond. Once we have, there is no way anyone could force us apart.” I sighed. “That’s true. Though until you are ready for that, we aren’t.” Kurt nodded.

“Is that why you were blushing? Because Bastet talked about completing the bond?” he asked. “Well, sort of. And I hope you know it isn’t that I don’t want to or that I’m not attracted to you or something silly.” I sighed.

“Of course I know that. With the amount of time we spend making out, I already got the memo that you are attracted to me. You’re sixteen and spent sixteen years thinking you were a human, being raised as a human with their set morals. So for you, it probably feels way too soon for intimacy. And that’s cool. Neither Godric nor I am going to rush you.” Kurt smiled, bringing our joined hands up to kiss the back of my hand.

“I love you and will wait till you are ready.” he added. I smiled. Every time he tells me he loves me, my insides go to mush. He’s the first person to say that to me.

I mean, dad… I mean Imtiaz… and Khalid would say it. But obviously, they meant it in a family way. And given how I’ve heard nothing from Imtiaz, I really don’t think he ever did.

When Kurt says it, though, it’s totally different. He means it. When Kurt says it, it’s not just because he thinks he should. He says it because he genuinely does, and he always will.

And it just gives me these warm fuzzies to know there is at least one person who will always love me. Someone that I will always love too. “I love you too.” I smiled, leaning over kissing his cheek as we parked.

“I don’t know how long it will be. But I also don’t think I’ll be able to hold out too much longer. Between the bond, Bastet, and just how deeply I feel for you, if I wait too much longer, I may go crazy.” I sighed as we headed for our apartment.

Kurt laughed, wrapping his arm around me as we walked. “I look forward to it.” he winked. I laughed, leaning into him. Our laughter slowly died as we got to the door and saw a package sitting on his 'Definitely Not A Trap Door’ welcome mat. It’s so dorky that it’s adorable.

“Were you expecting anything?” I asked, taking a few steps closer. “No. And if I did, it's late for a delivery.” Kurt frowned, moving cautiously.

“It’s addressed to you. No return address. And no postage.” Kurt froze, putting an arm out, stopping me from moving any closer. “Kurt?” I questioned.

His eyes were glazed over, so I knew he was linking someone. I’m not sure who he was contacting, but I knew who I could. ‘Uncle John? Aunt Sarael?’ I called out through our family link. It took a moment before they replied.

‘Isis… um… hello.’ Sarael’s voice filled my mind. She sounded out of breath which is weird when you consider we are speaking telepathically.

‘What’s wrong?’ John’s commanding voice spoke out, getting to the point. They just moved into their new house in Kavanagh Glen. I’m probably interrupting their private time.

‘I didn’t mean to intrude. I know you just moved. And may want to be alone. But… um, we just got home. There is a package addressed to me, but there is no postage or return address.’ I explained.

‘Has Kurt contacted my brother or Jonathan?’ John questioned. ‘Probably. He is linking someone right now.’ I answered.

‘Do not touch it till Jonathan clears it. I will be right there.’ John instructed. ‘He means we will be there.’ Sarael added. ‘Okay. Thank you.’ I sighed, feeling relieved they were going to come.

“Alpha and Silvercloud are on their way.” Kurt said, taking me to stand away from our door and the package. His eyes never left the suspicious package. “Uncle John and Aunt Sarael are coming too. Uncle John said to not touch it till Jonathan says it’s safe.” I nodded.

“It’s still freaky to hear you call him that. I’m used to hearing Hana say it. But I’m glad you contacted them.” Kurt sighed. “Well, get used to it. And maybe someday he’ll let you call him Uncle too.” I tried to smile. To focus on anything that isn’t the box.

How did it get here? There aren’t any scents in the hall that are out of place. All I can pick up are the scents of the others who live on our floor. Could it be something from the Syndicate?

Could they have gotten a Bloodmoon member to deliver it? Would one of our neighbors help a rogue? There are so many questions. I hope Jonathan gets here quickly to find out what it is and how it got there.
