Chapter 43 -Prepare for Battle
Zelena.
As I stomped back down the stairs, I found Gunner talking with Tobias, Cole and a man I hadn’t seen before. He was a bit shorter than Cole and a lot older, but still clearly very fit and in good shape. His long light brown hair was tied back in a ponytail and his beard was well kept. As I reached the bottom step, all men turned to face me. Their faces were blank, but I could feel the tension in the air around them.
“What’s going on?” I asked walking to Gunners side.
“Smith is headed back, he reached the Crescent Wolf pack” Cole paused,
“And? Are they coming too?” I questioned. Cole looked to Gunner and the new man and back to me, his eyes dropped a little.
“Not exactly” Gunner inserted.
“Hello Luna, I’m Patrick, I've come from Crescent Wolf” the new man spoke, his voice somewhat breaking the awkward silence.

Gunner. “We have this section of forest secure, the tree cover will give our fighters a boost. We have blocked any through path here and here. This section of the forest was near on inaccessible, we have downed a few trees to make sure that nothing can get through”. Gunner.This is bad, Zelena needs help. I went to run for the house but the pain in my shoulder slowed me. Damn fucking bullet. I snapped my head back and changed back into my human form. I looked down at my bloodied shoulder. The skin was torn open and peeled back by seared flesh. It was dark red and still bleeding. It’ll be fine, worry about it later. Zelena.After cutting the power to the pack house at the switch box, the village was now dark. A small glow from the direction of the driveway, told me that the loud bang I heard a few minutes ago was an explosion. I stood in the clearing that Gunner had marked out for me. Tobias stood next to me in his wolf form. Four of his fighters were surrounding us, also in their wolf form. I feel like I should change as well, but I haven’t used my power as a wolf yet. Zelena.I am going to rip this piece of shit hunter to pieces. I threw forward my arm sending another hunter flying through the air. Tobias growled and snapped at the hunters, the heated fury coming from his body was only increasing my own anger. I was about to go for another hunter went I felt a presence in the clearing. A blur of dark grey fur ran into view and headed toward the fighters. Tobias’s head lifted and turned to the wolf and his ears pricked up, he knows this wolf. The wolf lunged onto a hunter and ripped his head clean off before grabbing hold of the next one. A muffled sound echoed over the humming gunfire and I searched for its source. My eyes landed on a sight that filled me pride and lust.Gunner’s knees wrapped around the hunter's head as he gracefully threw his body through the air, landing in a crouching position. The Moon's Descendant Epilogue
Gunner It’s been three months now since the battle. Three months of helplessness and pain. Everyone is telling me to keep pushing on and to throw my all into leading the pack. But it’s hard, and it’s getting harder each day. Cole has been great with the pack, helping where he can. I appreciate everything he is doing but it’s just not right. I thought that I would have Zee beside me, helping me. I thought we were going to do this together. We lost thirty-six wolves in total. Two from Blue Moon and one from Crescent Wolf. A group service was arranged to bury our dead and a huge black marble boulder was brought in to hold a memorial placard. Mum and some other she-wolves arrange a garden area and small benches to surround the boulder, making a nice area to sit and mourn. I haven’t had the strength to go there yet, but I can see it through the trees from my office window. I find myself often staring at it mindlessly. Alpha Titus of Crescent Wolf
