"Why didn't you tell me before?" Anya spoke up breaking the silence as they drove back home.
"You know why." His brows were puckered up as he looked straight ahead. She wondered why he looked so upset all of a sudden. Could it be because she said that they couldn't get married the very next day?
"I don't know why!" She exclaimed quite loudly. He stopped the car instantly, sighing as he leaned onto the wheel and that's when she realised something was really bothering him.
"What's wrong Ronan? Are you not feeling well?" She asked pressing her palm against his forehead as she felt his temperature. He felt so cold.
"Tomorrow's my real birthday, Anya." He said taking her hand from his head and pressed it over his lips.
"I'm so happy for you both, Ann." Victoria said for what appeared to be the hundredth time to Anya. Victoria had arrived that morning and would not stop expressing how happy she was for them. She also told her how deeply disappointed she was that she didn't have much time to plan anything or call anyone properly. Her emotions could only be suppressed when they told her of the proper wedding that may happen in the future but she would still not stop conveying her disdain at the rushed up wedding. That didn't stop her from bringing the best dress for her daughter in law to be. The choice of a dress itself was left to Anya's decision and she desired for a saree because she knew quite well from experience that Victoria would bring her something that she liked.
Anya woke up feeling sore between her legs. A conscious pain pressed against her chest as she tried to move. A slight movement triggered a staggering amount of pain through her thighs. Her whole body ached but her heart relished every bit of the pain for it was a sign of a new beginning, a new direction, a new purpose and she felt fresh all the same. She took a deep breath for she knew it was her first since the start of a new life as she turned her head to her side hoping to see Ronan probably sleeping but the bed was empty. Her head immediately shot up as her eyes scanned the room for him but the sound of wind rustling against the curtains was the only thing she could hear. She tried calling his name but her lips were dry and her throat was parched. She couldn't help but smile
Anya woke up with a headache. The room was lit with light from outside the window indicating that it was morning. Her hand immediately reached for the phone. There were no calls or messages from Ronan. There was however a message from the boutique informing her that her wedding gown was ready for delivery. She sighed at the message and got up feeling light headed. She knew getting her mind off all this stress was the only thing that will help her with the headache and with that thought in mind, she decided to go to work. She had applied for leave and it was her day off but one of the perks of being in a superior position was that no one questioned her presence. She dragged her feet off the ground and forced herself into the bathroom. After a relaxing bath, she walked out and found Emily sitting on her bed with the morning daily in her h
The cafe that Anya frequented was unusually packed for the day. Perturbed by the unaccustomed view, she took a spot in the area outside the cafe which she usually avoided. She waited for her coffee as she looked at the busy road. A group of people were standing across the pedestrian crossing, waiting for the signal to turn green. She noticed a young boy tugging his mother's coat impatiently. It brought a smile to her face. This surprised her considering how her smile had become a sort of rarity. The sound of the ceramic cup placed on the wooden table shook her back to reality. She thanked the waiter and eagerly lifted the cup off the table and took a deep sniff. The aroma filled her nose with pleasure. Excitement crept through her body as she reached for the brink of the cup.“Hey.” She heard a voice. She looked up and she felt her heart slowly sink to the deepest part of her stomach. A feeling that came in so suddenly and a feeling that she hadn't felt in a long time. She gulped the c
August 2011, IndiaShe slowly got up from the bed and looked at the time in her watch. The radium numbers glowed showing that it was 2.00 am. Two more hours for her flight. She had already packed the basic necessities in a duffel bag. She neatly combed her hair with her fingers and put on her coat. She walked towards her parents room as her heart thumped inside her chest. It was beating so loud that she feared the sound might wake her parents up. She reached for the door. It was partly closed. She pushed the
March 2014, in a far away land." You're making breakfast?" Anya looked surprised." Well, it's your first day at work, so I thought I'll ease up the tension a bit." Viola smiled.Viola was Anya's best friend and room mate. Even though they knew each other only for three years, their bond was much more stronger.
"No way." Viola squealed. She looked at Anya who had buried her head in a pillow. " No way." She repeated again in disbelief." Yes." Anya looked up. She had just narrated to Viola, the details of that morning's catastrophe." Oh, no. I'm so sorry, Ann. Are you going to take up the test?" She asked looking concerned. Anya didn't answer."You're going to quit the job, aren't you?" She asked stroking her hair.
"What are you thinking?" Anya snapped."I was thinking of making Ann one of the contenders for the post." Viola said slyly."That's a brilliant idea!" Jess applauded."Oh, I know where you're getting at, Vye." Emily jeered.
