KARINA POV As Atticus rounds his desk and approaches me with concern clearly on his face, my control snaps. Tears I have been keeping at bay escape down my face and I begin to sob just as he pulls me against his chest."I am sorry. I am sorry I sprang that decision on you. We should have talked about it as equals first," Atticus apologizes with sincerity in his voice, but that only makes me cry harder. How can he not smell the change in my scent? Logan realized the difference right away. But Atticus seems oblivious to the clear change. How can he not get it? He broke my heart when he told me he didn't want the small pup growing inside of me. I thought he was bringing up having pups because he smelled the change in the air, but I was wrong... or maybe it was his way of telling me he didn't want it. Maybe he does know... No Atticus isn't like that. He is just being thick."You don't understand," I sob and his arms only tighten. Pain and regret are a living pulse within our bond now.
ATTICUS POV "Are you sure you don't want me to come with you," Karina asks and our eyes drop to her stomach for half a second before we meet her eyes again. We shake our head. Even if she wasn't pregnant it would still be too dangerous for her to return to Outcast with us, but now with her being pregnant... No. Absolutely not happening. We barely trust them to allow us to visit safely. "Logan and his Beta Gavin will be accompanying me. If the humans try anything I will handle them. They believe their silver weapons make them invincible. They aren't aware they have very little effect on me," we reply with a little chest puffing to impress our pregnant mate. Her lips tilt into a little grin before she rises to her toes. She gives our lips a quick peck and our heart squeezes in our chest. Our love for her is now painful at times. She is our biggest weakness and our greatest blessing. If anything were to happen to her now we would go insane. She is our world. When our pup is born w
ATTICUS POVWe stand as the train finally begins to slow. Many of the buildings that were smoking and falling down the last time we were here have been leveled, but the rest of Outcast seems the same as it was. Tall gleaming buildings and concrete pathways connecting them for miles."Atticus, what's the plan if they become hostile," Logan says as he and Gavin move to stand on either side of us."I will attack. The two of you will shift and get out as fast as you can. I will do my best to ensure you escape," we reply in a low voice while keeping our eyes trained on the passing scenery."What about you," Gavin says quickly and we glance at the well-tempered Beta. His bond with his Alpha is the strongest we have ever seen. He treats Logan more like a brother rather than a superior, but at this moment he seems legitimately concerned for our well-being. His concern isn't for his Alpha or even for himself. He is taken aback by the danger we will be in... Seems we have another friend."I will
ATTICUS POV The male with the treaty hands it to his leader and the leader glances at the thick bundle before looking at us again. "Could we not sit to do this. I mean it looks like it will take us a while to go through all of this," he asks and we smirk to hide our annoyance. "You mean like we planned to do," we state lowly with the sarcastic smirk still on our face. Gavin chuckles a little and Logan steps closer to our side. "Sir, you broke the rules of this meeting. We are aware that you are all new to treaties and preventing war, but we are not. Werewolves have existed since the beginning of time. Treaties aren't new to us. You need to understand that if you step over the line one more time we will be forced to act. You have disconnected my wolf spirit and my Beta's wolf spirit from our physical bodies. In the wolf world that is a crime. I would suggest you stop complaining and begin reading," Logan says in a diplomatic but firm voice. We raise our chin and cross our arms
ATTICUS POV The last male human closes the folder and nods toward his kinsmen. Gavin takes a pen from his dress shirt pocket and rolls it across the table. "All of you will sign. I want it known that the agreement was signed by all of you," we say rather quietly, and the men hold our eyes for a moment before beginning to sign. They pass it to one another without uttering a word and when it is done the folder and pen are passed toward us. "We will get a copy made and have it sent back to you," Logan says as he gathers the items and tucks them out of sight. "Fine. Now what," one of the males ask and we study him before answering. He is one of the males that held a silver spray bottle. He isn't the one we want as a leader. Matter of fact none of them seem perfect for the role. Maybe..."I wish to go over how you will choose to run Outcast," we say answering the male's question, and his jaw clenches. "Isn't that up to us," he replies and we grin. He is trying to keep his to
KARINA POVI squeal with happiness just after I press end call. Joy for my friend and her mate explode in my heart. Logan said the delivery of their male had gone smoothly and Chloe didn't have to labor for too long before he was here. "Atticus," I call as I jog down the hallway toward his office. When I reach the door I throw it open with unnecessary force. The doorknob knocks into the wall leaving a small dent, but I ignore it. "Chloe had the baby. 8lbs and 2oz. They haven't picked a name. He is here," I say excitedly as my mate looks up at me in surprise. His shocked face quickly shifts into a smile and he pushes away from his desk a little. He holds his arms up toward me and I smile. "That's good. Is she the one who called," he asks as I move around his desk to sit in his lap. "No. It was Logan. He said they are expecting us to come visit them before we go tour the progress up North," I answer while running my fingers through his short facial hair. I like the new bea
This story is dark. Atticus Kinciad suffered abuse all his life. Please remember this story is strictly fictional. No one was harmed and I created all these characters using my imagination. Please read The Omega's Stand to understand Atticus's story. 7yrs old. I sniffle quietly as I try to shift my body around into a more comfortable position. I wish I had something soft to push under my aching bottom, but I don't. I could take off my tattered shirt, but then the silver would have access to more of my raw skin. "Stop moving around so much! I can't think for two seconds without you interrupting me," Rupert growls and I freeze. My father, Rupert Kincaid, hates when I make noise and he is quick to punish me when annoyed. "Sorry, Alpha," I whisper to please the large man sitting behind his desk. He grunts lowly to indicate he heard my apology and I almost smile. He didn't hit me or call me names. I must have made him happy with my submission. I go back to counting my br
The nights in my cage are normally so peaceful. Father isn't in his office so I can move around as much as I like. I can also daydream or hum if I like. But the dark sky on this night isn't bringing me an ounce of peace. The dull look in my baby sister's eyes and the screams of her grieving mother are haunting me. The look of pride in my father's eyes makes me feel dirty. It's as if he is a disease and I have been infected by him. "Why did I listen to him? Why didn't I fight against him? Why didn't I try to protect her," I ask as my throat begins to burn with emotion again. I punch my legs as tears well up in my eyes once more and hate for myself grows in my chest. I wipe my face angrily as the water slips down it, but the stream just gets thicker. I shouldn't be allowed to cry. I don't deserve to feel sad! I did it. I killed her. I am a monster just like him. I killed her to make him happy so I wouldn't get hit. I am a pathetic male just like he said I am. "I hate you," I w
