Chapter 39

Nate’s POV

“Oh, you remember my birthday this year?” I asked almost immediately and I heard her voice huff a little in my ear before she started to speak.

“Of course I do.” She replied instantly.

“Well, you forgot it last time, and didn’t even remember until after one good week.” I reminded her as I started to slow down, seeing as I was almost home, and I paused the car at the front of the big gates, knowing the gates were going to get pulled open by the security men after about a minute.

“Aw, come on Nate, it was that one time, and I got too swamped with work during those times, which was why I forgot.” She started to argue and I rolled my eyes a little as I drove my car through the now opened gates, straight into the garage.

“Doesn’t make it hurt any less though, I hope you won’t end up forgetting this year’s own because of your work…” I said to her in a low and flat voice as I turned off the car engine and pulled the key out of the keyhole.
