How could I have missed it? It was the scent in the office. I looked the man dead in the eye. He had seen me in the office. That was the only reasonable explanation for his attitude in the last hour. I was in so much pain when I opened my eyes. My muscles ached and my back felt raw. A strangled cry left my lips and I moved. "Stay" a soft voice whispered close to my ears instantly causing my body to relax "I can't fucking believe him" I heard an angry voice say. "Let it go," the first voice said and it went silent. I didn't fall asleep again I was conscious but very weak. I heard movement around the room and whispers but i couldn't tell exactly who they were. The bed dipped as someone climbed on it and I felt gentle fingers run over my back. The minty smell of herbs filled my nose and soon I fell asleep. For the next couple of hours, I slipped in and out of consciousness but each time, there was someone in the room. The next time I woke up, I was on my back. My teeth clattered as I walked around the cold night. The cave could have been warm for me but it was too cold and dark to make the trip up there. Also the issue with the rogues, I didn't want to get hurt. Xander's revelation about the maid's death filled my head and a horrifying image of how the slave must have looked after getting mauled appeared in my head. Her death was still a mystery to me. How did she end up dead? How did she even go missing? My legs felt tired so I slumped tiredly at the side of the house wrapping my arms tightly around myself and praying to the goddess to keep me safe. And Sydney, why was she acting strange? I was floating in space. With no sense of time or my location but I felt at peace. Absolute peace. Something I've not felt in a long while. I spent the night in what I've come to know as Agnia's room. No one tried to wake me up so I slept until midday. She went about her activities and returned often even bringing me my lunch but I couldn't eat anything at the moment. I forced myself to get out of bed and take a bath while replaying everything that happened last night. I should have listened to my gut instinct. I should have never told him that Athena was involved. It was clear that he would never do anything to hurt her and now I've put myself in more danger with Athena. After my shower, there were clothes on the bed. I changed into them and Agnia came in with a smaller plate this time. My stomach grumbled and I happily accepted the meal. On the second day, I managed to clean most of the house until only two rooms remained. I couldn't complete the rooms today because I was already exhausted. I stopped at Samantha's house but it was locked. I decided to return to the pack house. As I was entering the building, I noticed Athena coming out. I retraced my steps and hid behind a tree. She exited the building with two men who she seemed over-friendly with. A third man walked out of the house and I recognized Dionyus instantly.He shared a laugh and a hug with Athena before they continued, walking away. A thought crossed my mind. Could Athena have something to do with the incident that night of the banquet and the murder of the girl? It could be possible.
