Chapter 4

ROSALIND'S P.O.V.

Walking down the streets I felt so exhausted, but I couldn't stop. It was so late at night and the streets of Italy were nowhere to roam at night but my massive tummy made it hard for me to walk and considering how I almost got kidnapped a month ago I was unable to take a cab at night anymore.

The streets were in silence and I perceived a bit of smoke coming from a distance and I knew that wasn't smoke from fire, it was from a cigarette. I immediately moved back a bit, knowing that I couldn't let them see me, or I might be dead.

“What do you have here?” I jumped upon hearing a voice from behind me and I noticed three giant men standing behind me. 

“Hey!! What's going on there?” The man smoking down the street asked, and my heartbeat increased with every second of the clock. 

“She's ours Mateo!” I swallowed heavily as I took a few steps back, but I bumped into someone and I realized they were actually four not three.

“Please let go of me, I don't have any money please.” Tears filled my eyes as I held on to my tummy tightly gently.

“You must be new in town, we don't spare any woman old or young, pregnant or not. Unluckily for you, you won't be able to tell anyone because you'll be dead by the time we are done.” All of them laughed as I looked at them in horror.

He wanted to place his hand on my stomach and I slapped it away protectively.

“Do not touch me!” I snapped as tears rolled down my eyes, but the sound of their laughter sounded like bells to my ear. 

“You stupid little bitch!” He yanked my hand. 

“Permit me, honey.” I heard a voice in my head.

“Who the fuck are you?” I yelled out and all four of them looked at me angrily.

“She's a fierce one, boss.”

“She'll taste lovely.”

“Stay away from me!” I growled at them as my fingers cracked and changed into claws, I had no idea what was going on. It was as though my body was acting on its own.

“What the hell are you?” They tried to attack me, but I grabbed him by the neck and snapped his body two. 

Without thinking, I clawed two of them at the same time and kicked the boss to the ground. He tried to shoot me with his gun and I dodged it before using my claws to rip his heart out of his body and I threw it away.

My hands became normal, and my entire body was covered in blood. What the hell was going on? 

“Hey Rosa.” I heard the voice again.

“Who the hell are you and what have you done to me?”

“Relax, Rosa. I'm your wolf, and you just went through your first stage of shifting.”

“Have you lost your damn mind? I'm a human!”

“That's what your parents wanted you to believe, the bracket you lost three months ago while fighting with Thanos was the reason I was sealed, your parents wanted you to believe you're a human that's why I was sealed.”

“That doesn't make any sense, why would they seal me away from who I am?”

“Because they knew the danger you'll be in if anyone knows who you truly are. They had kept you at the orphanage when you were born, that's all I can remember.” 

“Who am I?”

“You'll find out soon enough, not now, especially with the baby coming. Go home, we need a lot of rest.” I felt her absence and I knew she was gone.

The entire information was too much for me to process, I shrugged it off and walked towards my apartment before letting myself.

I ate some food before climbing onto my bed and laying in a comfortable situation. A question ran through my mind as I held on to the tip of my pillow.

Who am I?

Shit! 

I threw the sandals away knowing there was no way I was going to see my legs, I slid my legs in some comfy nice slippers before heading out. I was already late, so I took a cab and hoped my boss wouldn't terminate my employment for being late, but I cannot be blamed. I was way heavier than yesterday. 

Working into the restaurant, I realized the place was filled with people which are usually not meant to be.

“You are late.” I jumped as I heard her voice, but she smiled towards me.

“Hurry to the…. Woah! Are you sure you'll be able to work? Aren't you…"

“Do no worry about me ma'am, I got my wheelchair and I'll be fine.” 

“You really don't need to do this, Hannah will handle it.”

“She looks like she's about to give up.” I pointed towards Hannah who seemed like she didn't get enough sleep. “... I'll be fine, if I need anything I'll let you know.” She walked to her office and immediately got to the back to put my apron on, and I immediately started to dish out the food. 

Working here has been one of the best things in my life, everyone was nice to me, including my boss even if she yells at everyone else, I needed to strive, if not for me, at least for the baby.

“Rosa, can you help me with table five?” Hannah yelled from the other side. 

“Sure!” I felt something on my leg and I turned to see Aiden with my wheelchair “... I don't need that.”

“You've been walking for thirty minutes, you…"

“Aiden I'm not seating until after an hour, keep the chair aside.” I ruffled his hair and he frowned.

“Hey! I'll get you for this.”

“You'll be dead before the next sunset if you try it” I laughed as I walked towards table five “... Good day sir, what's your order for today sir.” He raised his head up, and I felt the air in my lungs being blown out.

“Nice to meet you again, Rosalind” I felt a massive sense of liquid drop and the last thing I saw was blood all over my legs.

ROSALIND'S P.O.V

“Such a stupid girl!” I heard a familiar voice as I opened my eyes, but my attention was caught by my baby bump, which was gone. 

I immediately panicked as I sat up and my eyes met with Mace. It wasn't a dream after all, his voice was what I heard earlier, an annoying beeping sound came from the monitor behind me, and he switched it off. 

“Where… Where's my child?” He pointed behind me and I turned around to see the twins peacefully sleeping in their crib, which made me feel relieved. 

“Why didn't you tell me?” He questioned, and I looked at him completely confused, “… Why didn't you tell me about my kids?” I swallowed hard, but I knew I needed to face him.

“Because I don't want you anywhere near them.”

“Have you lost it, Rosalind? How can you hide my children from me?”

“You chased me away, it was clear that we were divorced, you have the copy of the papers. I want nothing to do with you or life, let me go, and I will not report this case to the police.”

“You aren't going anywhere, Rosa, especially with my kids. You will remain in this pack as my Queen and those children will be mine.”

“I will never be your Queen. You got what you wanted, a werewolf mate that is more powerful than me, and that's who you'll stay with! These kids will never be yours. If I have to put my life in the line for it, then I will.” He growled at me, but I didn't flinch.

“Rosa, I have no intention of getting married to you again, but you will pose as my Queen and mother of my children.”

“I will pose as nothing that concerns you, these kids are mine, and I have taken on the responsibility of taking care of them myself, if you want kids ask your whore for a girlfriend to give you that!” I growled and he was stunned by it. 

“How can you do that?”

“My life doesn't concern you.” I laid on the bed and faced my back towards him before holding on to the duvet.

“Rosa, look at me…” His voice became calm, but I didn't move, “… I'm sorry for everything, I know I don't deserve you or them, but I hope you listen.” I raised my eyebrows in shock as he apologized, but I didn't move.

I suddenly heard the door shut, and I knew he was out of the room. Though I've been married to him for five years, Mace never apologized, hell! He never apologizes to anyone for what he does.

Did he change within these three months?

“Do not be stupid, no one changes that fast.” my wolf mumbled, and I pulled out the wire being connected to my body as I tried to stand on my own but my legs felt numb.

I couldn't stay here forever and if I need to get out I need to start thinking as fast as possible.

“Your highness…”

“I am not your Queen, Doctor Vanessa. Thank you for helping me, but I have to leave immediately.” I put Talisa and Robert in the baby carrier before turning towards Vanessa who had my vitamins in her hands. 

“Your… Rosalind, it's still not a great idea for you to be…" She trailed off when the door opened, and I sensed a strong arouse which made chills run down my spine. 

I turned around, and my eyes met with a man who looked to be in his mid-fifties, but I didn't care about him. I walked around the bed to carry my little voice.

“Hello, Rosalind” I froze in my spot as I heard the voice, my hands trembled as I turned around to look at him, and he let out a smile. “… What a weird situation for us to meet again.” Tears filled my eyes as I recalled the voice and what he did to me ten years ago. 

“Stay away from me.” My voice sounded thick as I spoke, but all he did was smile.

“Relax, Rosalind, you and I are in-laws after all, why would I hurt you?” I furrowed my eyebrows, confused, and my eyes widened as I realized he was Mace's father. 

“I do not care if you are my ex-husband's father, stay away from me, you bastard!”

“Do not be insulting, young woman, there's no escape for you this time!” He growled lightly, making me flinch. 

“Run your highness!” Vanessa pushed him to the ground and I immediately grabbed his back and ran out of the door. 

I ran towards the back door and immediately hopped into a van that was meant to take me away from here. I pulled the babies off me and searched for the keys, I screamed as he pouched on the window and I turned on the van before driving away as fast as I could. 

I knew he was chasing after the bus, but that didn't stop me. I put the kids in the back for safety and drove towards the gate. I looked out the window and realized he wasn't the only one following me anymore, there were dozens of them.

I noticed them trying to close the gate and I pressed on the accelerator and increased my speed and made it out as soon as the door closed, I watched back and saw them opening it again.

I speeded up and soon enough I lost track of them, which made me feel relaxed. I slowed down a bit and checked on the children but when I turned back, I saw a man and I immediately turned the wheels and the car crashed into a tree.

My head began to bleed and I suddenly heard a loud crack. The tree was falling.

I immediately pushed the weight off me and picked the kids as I headed for the back door, I pushed it open and jumped out as the tree crushed the car.

My vision was slowly becoming blurry as I looked around trying to find shelter, but my legs gave up and the last thing I saw was a man with a scar on his face.
