Anya’s POV

“The King requests that you come downstairs now,” The woman from yesterday said, and I’m glad I had been thoughtful enough to get dressed the moment I woke up.

Clearly, all my prayers to have Andrei die in his sleep had gone unanswered.

My dresses were few, and I doubted I would have anything presentable after today. Still, I went down with her in my blue dress.

Unlike yesterday, the dining table had two more people. A man with sandy blonde hair was seated on Andrei’s right-hand side with his back view to me, while Kern, who had been nice enough to treat me like a person, was seated on his left.

Kern looked up the moment he heard my steps, and his eyes lit up slightly. It was a sharp contrast to how angry Andrei looked every time he saw me.

Since it was a long dining table, I sat at the last edge away from them. Andrei shoots a look at me at the same moment the man on his right does, and I wonder if looks were a criterion for getting into their pack.
