"Don't you ever step foot in my house again!" George barked at the lady who lay on the hospital bed with swollen and bloodshot eyes. Her hand clutched her lower abdomen, tears rolling from her eyes to her ears and down to the pillow.
Lydia didn't bother to look his way as her lips trembled. He had disfigured her face and beaten her mercilessly till she fainted. The only thing holding her back from leaving that house was her four years old daughter.
It was from one problem to another, the doctor had told her that she had lost the baby in her womb again due to the horrible torture from her husband.
"And don't even think of Khloe let alone come to see her" he added, causing Lydia to snap her eyes at him. She quickly forced her body up from the bed disconnecting the IV from her hand as she moved towards him and cried,
"George, don't…, don't do this… to me" she choked as tears continued to stream down her cheeks. She fell on her knees.
Khloe was the only reason she remained in the loveless marriage of six good years. She cannot let go of her daughter now.
"Please George, please" She tried to reach him but he slapped her hands away.
"Don't you dare, Lydia. Don't you dare!" He barked as he moved away. She cowered but still tried to explain,
"I can't do without her," she said quickly and gulped, "George please, I need Khloe" her face stained with tears, her hair messy, and her hands in a pleading position but George sneered,
"Alma will become her mother from now on" he declared, enjoying the terror that appeared in her eyes after the words flew from his mouth.
Lydia's world went blank as she stared at the man in horror. Her daughter would refer to her best friend, scratch that, Ex- best friend as her mother instead of her when she was not dead? Never
"Never!" She charged at him, "I will never let that happen. George, give me back my child" she yelled loudly as she reached for his shirt and pulled him with all her might. He gave her a resounding slap, causing her to fall to the ground roughly.
Lydia remained there with her hands clenched into a fist, her blood boiling in anger, eyes filled with so much rage, her teeth clenched, she looked up at him, and with heaving breath, she spat,
"Over my dead body will I let my daughter call Alma her mother"
"Then you better go and die, Lydia" George smirked before storming out of the hospital room.
"No! George, no!" She ran after him only to be held back by some nurses saying she wasn't strong and she shouldn't stress herself.
She fought through but just couldn't, they were four of them and two more came to help. She fell to the ground in tears as she yelled in anguish,
"Get back here, George! Bring me, my daughter!"
Everyone in the passageway watched the man's figure till he disappeared. No matter how she screamed and cried, he never turned back to look at her, not even once.
Her screams became louder piercing through the hearts of many. She tried to pull herself from the nurses but it was impossible. People who passed stood to watch her, her hair messy, and tears stained her disfigured face. While some teared up, some shook their heads in pity for her.
"Let me go. George! Give me my daughter! Let me go, leave me alone" her wail echoed through the passageway.
A doctor came over to her and injected her, she immediately fell asleep right there on the ground. She was taken back into the room.
"Who's she?" The doctor's friend named Carson asked, he continued to stare at the room the lady was taken into. The doctor sighed,
"Some lady who was unfortunate, and got married to a sucker. She has lost more pregnancies than you can imagine from the beating she receives from her husband. There is no month she doesn't come to this hospital"
"Asshole, he should be sued" his friend clicked his tongue in irritation.
"Asshole indeed," the doctor replied before walking away along with his friend.
George is an asshole indeed but used to be Lydia's Mr. Perfect, the Mr. Right before marriage. In fact, he was every woman's dream including hers. She was so happy to finally get married to him. A mere orphan getting married to a smart, rich, and handsome young man like George, was a dream come true.
Everything went down the drain on their wedding night after George accused her of being a novice in sex. Was that her fault as she had promised to keep herself for only her husband?
Things started changing from that same day of her wedding to him. Just the next day, George began to bring 'experienced' ladies home, he slept with them and made her watch telling her to watch and learn. She began to see the monster in him and despised him as the day passes
The day she left the house to work, he had given her her first beating. He beat her up and said,
"A woman's duties are in the kitchen and in the bedroom" and that was how she gave up working.
Never has she been beaten the way she was by Geroge. He uses every opportunity to beat her up till she begins to get used to his harshness.
He had gradually broken Lydia's spirit bit by bit till there was little to nothing left. It was the day George brought her best friend into the house that Lydia realized that it was over for her. Not her husband or her best friend ever loved her.
The funny thing was, whenever she had an issue with her husband, Alma was the only person she could confide in. Alma was her comfort. Who would have thought that Alma Ambrose, her best friend for more than six years now, was one of the ladies sleeping with her husband also.
They didn't only force her to watch them have sex that day, they had beaten her up till she lost her first pregnancy.
After the miscarriage, she decided to give George a lot of space for the sake of her mental health. But Whenever there was no lady for him that day, she became his personal slut. It was only three months but she was no longer interested. She planned to file for a divorce as she was already tired.
The day she set to go to the lawyer for the divorce papers, she found out that she was pregnant again for him.
Lydia became confused and didn't know whether to keep the baby and take care of the child alone or stay with George in the house as abortion wasn't an option.
She decided to stay and raise her child. Her beautiful Khloe, who she loves with everything in her. The only thing that had kept her in that loveless marriage was Khloe. She wanted her child and she wants her now.
Lydia snapped her eyes open only to see herself still in the hospital bed again. She looked around and everything that happened to her came rushing back into her memory.
She was beaten by George for something she didn't do and had a miscarriage again losing her seventh child to this man who literally rapes her. And now she is not allowed to see her only child, Khloe
Again her eyes began to turn teary in the dark room,
"Khloe" her lips quiver uncontrollably as she cried silently.
“What are the little things that always make your day better?” Carson asked the lady before him. She was dressed in an off-shoulder, long black gown hugging her slim body, her hair falling to her shoulders, and her collarbone exposed for the gentleman to view. They were on a date at R&W restaurant, a place for the perfect romantic date. Carson was dressed in ripped jeans trousers and a white polo. “Well, that should be waking up early” Amelia replied, “I hate it when I wake up late, it ruins the rest of my day” she added with her chin slightly raised, and lips in a slight tug. Her hand stirred the glass of wine she held gently “And what time is your early?” He asked with his eyes carefully watching her. “That should be 5 am” she responded with a smile “Wow, impressive. I don't wake up early at all” Carson admitted as he sipped from the glass only for him to hear her say, “When we get married, I won't take that from you. We'll be waking up before 6 am”. He almost choked on hi
Lydia watched as the man came closer to her. With every step he took, she shook in fear of getting closer to her death. She had sent her ex-best friend a message to take care of her only daughter, Khloe. The best thing to do was to end it all, She was tired of this life. After all, that was what George wanted as well. When Carson walked closer to her, he frowned, 'isn't this the same lady from the hospital?' He asked himself. Looking at Lydia, he said calmly, “Get down” This only made her hold on to the rail behind her tightly. She was on the other side of the rail, standing at the very edge of the bridge. “No!” She replied stubbornly. Her eyes held a faraway look, her lips quivering as she began to say, “You don't know what I've been through. My life is a living hell. I just want to die, I just want to die!” She screamed. Her hair and hospital gown flew as the wind led them. The sound of water underneath them. Carson raised his hands in surrender, “I really would have loved
“What did I do? Why am I under arrest?” Lydia asked the man with brows furrowed deeply. Carson only continued to pull her towards his car. He had a deep frown as well, he was doing exactly what his friend would have wanted him to do right now. “For trying to kill yourself, of course” he spat as he shoved her into the car and went over to the driver's seat. With every passing moment, confusion continued to envelop Lydia, she stared at him and still could not understand why Carson, who had said she was safe a while ago, was now arresting her. Indeed, no one except Khloé loves her. “When did that become a crime?” She asked as she tried to blink back the tears from flowing down her eyes again. “You'll know soon,” Carson said to her as he dialed his friend's phone number. “She still hasn't been found yet, I swear to God, I'll—” “I found her” Carson cut Nick off. The phone was on speaker, so Lydia could hear their discussion. “You found the girl? My patient?” Nick asked in surpri
Feeling the soft mattress under her, Lydia hummed and moved comfortably on her bed. After a while, she opened her eyes and looked around at the unfamiliar room, and began to wonder where she was. Her body ached, and her stomach grumbled in hunger. Still, on the bed, she began to recall all that happened. She looked around to confirm whether she was in prison or not. A smile formed on her lips, she was so happy that she not only did not die last night, but she also didn't sleep in jail. With a groan, she tried to stand up from the bed when she heard a lady's cry from outside, and she furrowed her brows. She slowly got up from the bed before making her way to the door. She noticed her hospital gown had been changed to a big gown. As she walked she thought, what was she thinking, he must have a wife, and the woman might be having an argument with him right now because he had brought a lady to their house. She needs to clarify things. Slowly, she traced her way to where the noise wa
Lydia watched as a pretty lady walked into the kitchen. She was dressed in black trousers and a sky-blue top, she tucked her top into her trousers. She was looking so pretty that even Lydia could not get her eyes off her. She had the aura of miss gorgeous and her hair was pinned so beautifully. Lydia opened her mouth to speak, but no words seemed to come out of her mouth. She couldn't help but marvel. What she didn't understand is why Carson would lie that he wasn't married when he had such a beauty as a wife. “Marian, you're late,” Carson said with a calm voice. And I noticed he was speaking to the lady. He carried the little boy in his arms as he observed the lady. “I'm sorry, Mr. Carson. The traffic was bad after going to pick up Gary from Grandpa. He made me wait because Gary wanted some cookies from Miranda” she explained so fluently that Lydia kept blinking at how good the girl was.“That's okay if it's for Gary, why not?” He dropped the smiling boy on the counter before as
“Why didn't you do anything?” She asked Carson when Marian was out of sight. She knew if he had asked Marian to give Gary a break, she would have obeyed. “Who else knows how to take care of Gary so well aside from her? She knows the best way to discipline him”. “But…” she paused, but Carson continued to watch her, waiting for her to speak. He could clearly see the displeasure on her face and the pain as well. He wondered how she could feel for someone she had just met. She wanted to cry for a child she had met not even up to an hour ago. Her husband had made her go through hell, yet she was still sweet and caring, he shook his head in wonder. “Good morning, Mr. Carson. Good morning ma'am” An older woman walked into the kitchen. “Good morning ma'am, Anny. This is Lydia, my client. Lydia this is ma'am Anny, my cook and housekeeper”. “Hello, ma'am. Good morning” Lydia greeted with a little bow while Ma'am Anny scoffed, “Call me Anny instead” Although Lydia didn't feel it was righ
After breakfast, as Carson had said it, he made sure Lydia went shopping for a few clothes she could wear instead of wearing big old Ma'am Anny's gowns. Looking at Lydia in the mall, Carson could tell that the woman was scared of selecting the clothes she'll like to buy. He noticed when they stepped into the shop, her eyes caught a beautiful red skirt but when she checked the amount she pulled her hand away so speedily as if the clothes were fire. Taking note of that particular skirt, he gestured for the sales lady to package that particular skirt without her knowing. Lydia kept walking around the shop without picking anything. She was more concerned about the amount of the outfit. After a while, she came to stand in front of Carson, “I don't think they have the kind of clothes I wear, can we go somewhere else?” She asked and he raised his brows,“Are you sure? I mean, there are a lot of outfits here, and I can see they are beautiful. If you didn't like them, you wouldn't look at
“Lydia, hope you are ready?” Lydia heard Carson's voice from the outside as she dressed up.“Will be out in a minute” she yelled, so he could hear her. It was Monday, the day she had been waiting for. She was more than ready, especially when she had stayed days without Khloé. Now she is willing to do anything to get her Khloé.Dressed in a black skirt and blue long - sleeves top, she came out of her room looking different.Carson held his breath when he saw her. He was shocked to see her this smart and beautiful. Since he met her, she had always had a sad and pitiful face on that he wondered how she would be able to act smart in front of George. “I don't need to ask if you're ready anymore” he smiled. He was glad that the bruises and every trace of weariness were out.“I think I'm ready” she replied with a nod. As they began to step out, Lydia asked, “Where is Gary?” “Marian has taken him to school. He should be back home by 12 pm” “Oh,” was all Lydia could say. She would have l
