Mae’s P.O.V

Marcel squinted his eyes at me suspiciously while Elodie collected the bracelet, staring intently at me. “How could this be in the trash can? Even the maids didn’t find it so…..” Elodie exchanged fleeting glances with Marcel who shook his head as his eyes glinted with confusion.

“What? Is there any problem?” A mischievous smile played on my lips but as soon as they faced me, the smile disappeared.

Marcel finally talked. “I am just curious, what would the bracelet be looking for in the trash can, now that I think about it, since when have you been following us?”

My breath soon got stuck in my throat and anxiety crept at the back of my neck as I tried to look for the perfect words to say.

“Actually……” My words trailed. “Ummm, I was looking for the left piece of my earplugs so I deciphered that it must have got lost plus it was pretty expensive. I found the bracelet when I was searching for my earplug” I managed to form a lie.
