Flora’s P.O.V
We descended down a flight of stairs to the ceremonial hall where I would be integrated into the Lunar Maidens. From the number of stairs that we climbed down, I could tell that the hall was somewhere underground.
This was it. Once this ceremony was over, it would seal my fate forever. My wolf told me that if I wanted to back out now, this was my only chance. But my heart knew it was too late. I could never love someone the way I loved Clay.
So I’ll wait for the mating bond to suck me in like it did with Clay and I would live in a world of falsehood, forced to love someone for eternity that I hadn’t chosen. Because I had fate in the Moon Goddess to find that person for me. The lover of my dreams who would love me unconditionally.
Finally I could see a door at the end of the staircase and these were made of metal instead of wood. The door was plain and simple, just two bars of heavy iron shut together with t
Clay’s P.O.VThe gateway to Lindersay was a secret that only a select few knew about. Most people who were taken to Lindersay were rendered unconscious while travelling the pathway to the sacred world of the wolves. It was located in another dimension and everything about it was a secret.Like most of the populace, I didn’t know how this place came into being or when it was formed, but the one thing I did know was the portal that would lead me to Lindersay. It was situated in the middle of a road that only a few travelled through and it lead to a dead-end. But right at that dead end was located the portal to Lindersay. Any car could pass through it…if it was travelling at exactly 102 miles per hour.I knew this because all Alphas were given the secret just in case it was needed. Even Riley or any other beta had no idea how to get here.Just as I saw the dead end approaching, I switched gears and kept the speed at exactl
Flora’s P.O.VA blinding light surrounded us at the instant, making me cover my eyes.The entire alter was glowing, including the ceremonial circle on the ground, the light bright enough to light up every corner of the room. It turned everything white and even shielding our eyes didn’t help protect us from the glare. But just as suddenly as the light appeared, it disappeared, plunging us in darkness.When I was finally able to open my eyes, everything appeared to be dark as stars danced in my vision. I blinked several times to clear the haze and then I was searching for Clay. I didn’t have to look long because he was right beside me, trying to shield me from the blinding light. He too blinked several times before his emerald eyes landed on me.“Flora!”He cupped my face in his hands. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?”“No, I’m fine.” I told him, searching him in return for an
Malachi Andrews, the Alpha of Lindersay, looked out through the open windows of the infirmary at the two figures lying on two separate beds on opposite sides of the room. Gazing at the star-crossed lovers, he wondered for the thousandth time…could love really conquer all? This wasn’t the first time he had seen a pair, who weren’t mates, be drawn to each other like magnets…or perhaps, the better notion would be, ‘like moths to a flame’? Their love was always ill-fated, would perhaps always remain so. But this was the first time someone had been able to break the mating bond and come out of it alive. The Goddess Selene hadn’t been pleased. It didn’t surprise him all too much since Gods weren’t used to defiance. They believed themselves to be the most supreme beings in the universe. He knew that better than anyone. “Your Lordship.” A moon maiden came to bow before him, her midnight dark hair braided into a thousand braids around her head;
Flora’s P.O.VI could feel his eyes on me, those gorgeous emerald green eyes that shore like diamonds when the light hit them just right. I could almost imagine him watching me through hooded lashes as dark copper coloured hair fell onto his forehead like a silken blanket. Sometimes, when I was alone at night, I wondered what it would feel like to run my fingers through those silken strands, to brush my fingers over those lips that could tempt the heavens itself to sin. But I kept those fantasies to myself. Because Clay Scotsman had a habit of tempting the female species into all kinds of sins before chewing them up and spitting them out the next morning.But then again, those females he took to bed, humans and wolves alike; never once complained or got clingy. He had that effect on women, no matter the age. He always, always ended a relationship on the right footing. No hard feelings; no strings attached.The tiny hair at my nape stood in
Flora’s P.O.V“Oh My God!” Ruth whispered before shaking her head and pointing behind us towards the exit to the woods with her fingers. “Let’s get out of here.”I nodded silently and both of us made our way towards the back on our hands and knees when suddenly, we were met with a pair of sneakers in our line of sight. Heart leaping to my throat, I followed the leg that bore the sneakers and looked up into the angelic face of Clay Scotsman.“Up.” He said hoarsely and immediately, Ruth and I scrambled to our feet. “Good. Now, you ladies mind telling me why you two were pretending to not have seen anything when you clearly have?”“We, didn’t see anything, I swear.” I said immediately and when I saw Clay giving me an exasperated look, I added, “I swear on the honour code.”I thought Clay might be angry that I knew about the honour code but
Flora’s P.O.VIt was 11.30 at night and my house was unusually quiet as I lay awake in bed, tossing and turning, unable to get the vision of Clay and Ms. McKellar out of my head.Avery McKellar was the Principal of ReedStone College and she was also one of the packs senior soldiers with extreme discipline and she was one of the wisest people I knew. She was also well over forty years of age, which meant nothing for a wolf who could live up to four hundred years. Our Alpha Nicholas was almost three hundred years of age and he looked more like a man in his mid sixties with salt and pepper hair, ripped muscles and a face that could turn every head in the vicinity when he went out for a stroll. He was also happily mated with two children well over hundred years of age who were senior soldiers at Lindersay.But Avery wasn't mated. She’s one of the very few in our pack who hadn’t found their mates yet and were open to casual dating.
Flora’s P.O.VNever run from an angry wolf. That’s what we had been taught as pups, alongside our human packmates who were just starting to learn wolf etiquette. Because it encouraged the predator within and if they succeeded in catching you after a chase, they will undoubtedly go for the throat. Because rage was a beast that turned wolves into rogues. Rage and loss.But at that moment, I wanted very badly to turn around and run as fast as I could in the opposite direction with my tail between my legs; his dominance shoving with razor sharp edges against my senses. Clay was the last person I could have imagined to come after me tonight and from the looks of it, he had thought the worst from what he had witnessed, that Garrick had tried to hurt me.I kept backing up with slow measured steps, careful not to anger the predator in front of me anymore than he already was. However, soon I found myself backed up against a tree. Without my c
Flora’s P.O.VAt first I thought Clay was just messing with me, I mean, what else could it be? Clay and Riley had been best friends since childhood and he’s always treated me like the little sister. But something had changed in him when he came back from Lindersay, what exactly, I couldn’t tell, not until now.He wasn't holding back anymore. And I could feel the intensity of it every time he glanced at me when we were in class, the depth of his gaze making me shiver every damn time. And I would always be able to tell when he was around because the fine hair on my nape would stand in attention, as if my wolf wanted him to wrap his fingers around my nape in a bold possessiveness that would tell others that I was off limits.Clay had never been known to hold back from what he wanted. Back when he was in middle school, he was able to beat guys twice his size and win the soccer championship in the Lycan Yearly Championship Programme
