Chapter eight

Hadassah’s POV

It was a chilly, gloomy rainy day, we all stood with our umbrellas under the rain to bury the man who was once known as my father.

I watched as the coffin was laid gently into the ground, my mother's sobbing intensified as the coffin lowered.

I gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze as it continued to shake violently. I couldn't cry, I don't know why the tears are refusing to fall. I guess I've held it in for so long, they've formed a lump in my chest.

This just got personal! I thought.

Whoever was behind the killings just crossed the line. They think they've won, but the war was just starting.

I looked around, taking in each of the faces present. They were a few close relatives, some friends, neighbors and colleagues from work, nothing odd but I'm sure we were being watched.

I'll catch the killer, that's for sure. No matter how long it takes, I'll catch the person.
